So one of the new features we'll have after the update is a version of the site that can be read on smartphones and other mobile devices. I just finished the first attempt and thought I'd show off some screenshots.

Before anyone panics about the writing being too small, the story-text can of course still be adjusted. And you also have to remember that you'll be a lot closer to your phone-screen than you are now to your monitor - that made quite a difference for me.

Anyway, some early input would be great.







Btw, the screenshots were taken with an iPhone if anyone is wondering, and I can already tell you that the "Download ePub" option works perfectly, all you need is a free app called Stanza. Not sure about Android and WinMobile yet, but I'll make sure to find out before any of this goes life.

Edit: Whops, ignore the IP beneath the avatars and the padlock symbol in the forum. I was logged in when I took the screenshots and those are only visible to admins.

Wasn't planning on more colors, didn't think people would read on a phone for any greater lengths of time - at least not online, that'd be something you'd probably use the eBook option for. Also, the background color doesn't make as much of a difference for me on the phone as it does on the monitor, could be just me though.

If I get requests for more color-variations after it's up a while I'll certainly reconsider though.

I have a whole bunch of new stuff I want to add to the verse, but since the additions broke the layout I'm calling it a site-upgrade and am going to upload all the changes at once when I'm done. (As to avoid having to mess with the layout after every new feature, this way I can add them all and adjust the layout at the end.)

The screenshots I posted up there are what you'll see if you open the bsv website on a mobile phone - there'll also be a button to see the normal pc version on a phone (though I can't recommend that, you have to zoom in pretty far and constantly move the focus-window around to make anything out). If you use a normal monitor or even a touchpad with a somewhat decently sized screen you'll never even see the mobile-phone version.
