BSV Forum - Writing - Resources
Writing resourcesGah! Had this whole thing written out, links and all, and my satellite went out just as I hit "submit". Lost the whole thing. I hope I can remember what I said. I think I'll just hit the highlights, and if anyone shows interest in knowing more, I'll come back and elaborate and/or post the links again.
Resource #1 is self-pimpage - the LJ community Riters_R_Us is designed to be a place where you can ask questions about writing, look into the memories and see what other members (usually me, but not always) have posted. In the memories you will find our list of frequently confused words, homophones (sound-alikes), and my essays on writing which began the whole thing. Also in the memories you will find the urls of any and all resources that members or guests have posted there. You should find links to all kinds of wonderful sites: on-line dictionaries, places to find transcripts of BtVS and AtS, on-line grammar help, etc.
Two other excellent places to look: Anaross's (if you don't read her, you should) website for writers. This very talented writer is a professor of English and is very generous about sharing her knowledge with the rest of us. Also, Jane Esperson - a former scriptwriter for BtVS has a blog on LJ in which she offers advice. It is primarily aimed at potential scriptwriters, but much of the advice could apply to any genre.
Let me know if you want more information and/or links.
I am upper management.
Could you post this links to Anaross's website and Jane Esperson, please?
