Stupid Sex/Chip Question

Apr 12 2007 03:36 am   #1Blood Faerie

I'm not sure if someone has posed this question yet, but it occured to me while reading a fic recently. Chipped Spike, we know if he hurt a human at all that *boom*--pain to the brain. Okay, so with that given...if he went to have sex with Buffy and it was painful, as in breaking her hymen...well, yeah, would his chip fire? In the fic, same as other fics, the point was made that he bit her during sex even though he had the chip and it was explained away that he could do it because that bite wasn't painful, so it didn't trigger the chip. So okay, we'll go with that explanation for that...and no, Buffy wasn't a virgin in the fic, but it just made my mind go there.

So thoughts?

Well, in "Fool For Love," Spike says that if he doesn't intend to hurt her, then he could throw a punch towards her person/face.  But, when he thinks about hurting her, and all he does is shift to game face, growl and lunge, the chip fires. However, that was only added by the writers of the ep so that they could have the semi fight scene between the two of them, because in s4, and he has that fake gun and just turns it towards Xander (I'm sure he wasn't even thinking about doing harm, cause it was fake and he knew it), the chip fires.  It all depends, but I'd say if the bite was pleasureable, then no chip firing.  Breaking a hymen?  Yea, there's nothing fun or pleasureable about that, so that one, I'd argue with.

I don't know. If the man knew what he was doing and got the woman worked up, and she was wet and als added lub. then yes it would be a bit painful but not as bad as if it was just wham, bam, pop that cherry. The pain wouldn't even last that long and then it would start to be pleasurable for her. So I'm thinking if Spike did everything right and Buffy was all for it then the chip sholdn't fire.

Hm, not sure what would happen to the chip. If it fires as a result of intent then everything should be right as rain. If it fires based purely on pain, then it might be iffy. Perhaps this is better left for the pet peeves thread, but I am troubled by the virgin/hymen/pain archetype that we see in fics and other forms of entertainment (books, movies, etc.). It doesn't always hurt the first time you have sex. There can be no pain at all. I imagine for many women there is some discomfort, but I'm not sure why we are reinforced to expect pain.

I agree about the whole hymen thing- a lot of women lose theirs before sex anyway.  That, and there are way too many variables to consider- preperation, size, how the guy goes about doing it... yes, I will be vague here, but I'm sure you guys get what I mean ;)

I think it fired based on pain, the whole "intent" thing just seemed to judge if it fired before he did it or after (which makes no sense, if it's going to fire based on causing pain then it should only do it when the pain is caused...not the whole inconsistancy of sometimes firing beforehand if he thinks about it too hard or something, lol). Because the whole "stopping before he actually struck her" thing in Fool for Love, it probably would have fired if he connected. Sort of like when he smacked Xander up the head, you really don't do that to hurt someone, just "duh" them... and he looked genuinely surprised when it fired then, in my opinion. I know there are other examples of that, but can't think of them... bleh. So based on that belief, thats why I wondered if popping her cherry - since it causes at least some pain based on the variables mentioned -  would make it fire. I know its a really weird place for my mind to have went, so we can call me weird and I won't be offended. I know I'm weird. I'm the queen of random questions, just ask my professors who have had to put up with "Where do peas come from?" during a discussion on Aztec foods.

And now, I so totally have an image in my head of Spike plunging ahead and both of them crying out in pain, and Buffy wondering what the heck is up with him, lol

Exactly. If you're relaxed, and you guys fit together, and especially if a woman is older....no pain at all. If you tense up expecting pain, you're definitely going to have it!

And I imagine if Buffy had been cheerleading for years, most of her hymen would be gone, anyway.....that's what happens with girls that already have their period plus are very active.

ROFL, so glad I just drank my pop before reading this. See now you have to do a oneshot of that happening.

Iwas very active before I got married and it was still very unpleasent the first time we came together. And not to be all TMI but even now after ten years of marriage and five kids there are still times that it hurts, not alot though. But I guess like Scarlet said it depends on the man and the woman. :)

I know, I was totally wondering if I should make it a challenge or something.

Perhaps TMI alert...

I'm not "Ms. Experienced" or whatever (but I'm not "Miss Virginity" either), but there were times where like... I dunno, I "close up," or something. So the whole "plunging in" thing all forceful like would be *not* good for me, and I'm talking about decent, average sized, not massive... Well, you guys know how "well endowed" Spike is usually written to be in these fics... So I'm thinking major pain (even if momentarily)- hymen or not.

Well sorry guys but my Spike is not massive, lol. I think that's a tab over the top slightly above average is cool for my fantasies and fics too. But the whole plunging ahead is a big no no, unless you're into pain like that. *shrugs*

Yea- massive's a huge no no (no pun intended- seriously).  Not that I know from personal experience, and I'm certain that I don't ever want to know... Okay, now I've got serious gutter brain (in regards to *ahem* JM).  I should probably go now...

I can't believe that I'm going here, but...

The average penis is 5-6 inches in length.  The average vagina is 3-4 inches deep.  Nature made it almost a perfect fit down there :-)

Give me Spuffy, or give me death.

Yes, she did, lol. So I'm thinking anything over 8 might be a tade much, who knows maybe even 8inches is a bit to handle. Don't know maybe I'll call my BF she's been around. That sounded really bad didn't it? But she has, lol.

i sort of got the impression from canon that the chip fired any time he intended to cause pain, and also anytime he actually caused pain, whether he meant to or not...which actually, it's the first idea that makes more sense, if it's wired to spike's brain...it makes sense that it would "know" when he was meaning to cause pain, but if it's purely accidental, how would the chip in *Spike's* head register that pain had been caused to someone else, you know?

anyway, the whole thing is fantasy, and i pretty much twist it however i like for whatever given fic i happen to be working on at the moment :P

oooooo DoS does Spike torture, lets wheedle her into writing the scene for us *turns to DoS with maniacal grin*

Yep, the average works perfectly....it's the not-so-average that's a pain, LOL. I've only been with two, but I definitely preferred the average sized guy vs. Mr. 11inches. I'm only 5'2", so what was I going to do with all that? Ow. I suppose it'd be perfect for a woman 6 ft. tall!

The chip should have only reacted to Spike's thoughts, though it was also patched into his senses.....really interesting to think how it would work from the whole brain mechanics POV.

Apr 14 2007 01:32 am   #20Scarlet Ibis

Practically six feet tall here, and over eight is a no no for me, I'm sure. Unless it's JM, cause then I'd "risk the pain," and all that

:D

DMW- the "risking the pain" part?  Well... I just think that's called rational thought ;)

The man I may get married to in the future aside, I'm fairly certain that he is probably the only man I wouldn't have restrictions on (unless it involved other people- I'd have to have him all to myself). So those are A-OK Elizabeth ;)

(In Borat sounding voice) Very nice!
