To Kenne

Jul 26 2007 12:40 am   #1Diabola

You sent me this email:

I am in my 12 year old daughter's account and I would like it deleted, and not finding a way to do it from here. Please get back to me as soon as you can.

I tried to reply, but the email address "kenne596@hotmail.com" you gave doesn't seem to work. My answer was:

To avoid accidents, only I can delete an account. I'd need to know which account you're talking about before I can do anything. I'd also need to verify the email address, which means, I need to see that you control the email address listed in the account. If your daughter has her own email address, I'm afraid you'll have to ask for access to her computer, or for her to send me an email on her own. If neither is an option for you, let me know and we'll try to come up with another possibility, but I can't delete an account without making sure that the person requesting the removal has the right to do so.

Additionally, please be aware that the difference between having an account and not having one, is merely the ability to post stories, leave signed reviews and access to the internal part of the forum. Even if your daughter's account is deleted, she will still be able to read the stories posted on this site. If you want to stop her from reading, you'll have to discuss that with her, I can't block her access.

Please let me know how you wish to proceed, and give me a working email address so we can continmue this in private.

This may not be real. I got an e-mail from Spuffy Realm (from Pari) and she had an e-mail from an irate mother of a "12 year old who was reading NC17 stories" and she wanted the account deleted  as well as having the site keep young people out. Pari was considering tightening the policies for joining/reading. I wonder if this is one of those "child porn" advocates trying to stir trouble? Kathleen

Yeah, I got that email too. Already contacted Pari, and now that I have an addy, I'll try to contact this person.

It looks odd, but I have to admit I don't really care if it is real or not. If she controls the email address the account was set up with, I'll delete the account - if not, then not. And like Pari said, it's the parents responsibility to keep an eye on what their children do on the net, not a site-owner's. Not like adding an age-verification would do any good anyway, the kids can simply give a wrong age. And having an account doesn't mean they are reading NC-17 fics anyway, so yeah...

Still, thanks for the info. :-)

Btw, "kids and porn". How odd is it, that in my country the age of consent is 16, but you aren't allowed to watch porn until you are 18? You can do it, but not watch it? Does that mean all 16 and 17 year-olds have to close their eyes during sex? *snicker*

Ha! I think it means they're allowed to do it, but not allowed to watch other people doing it. Because, really, the voyeurism is the problem here. ;)

Well I hope this isn't someone trying to start sh*t! I mean I know how hard it is having kids, but you have to control what they do and watch and where they surf. If this is one of those anti-kid porn people, which i have o problem with, beacuse there are some sick freaks out there. they need to step off, this is not a site about porn, yeah you can read smut, but it's not like we have video porn or anything. pick up any trashy novel and you'll read the same stuff.

And in the air the fireflies
Our only light in paradise
We'll show the world they were wrong
And teach them all to sing along

ROFL at the picture of 16 yr olds having sex with their eyes shut because they aren't old enough to watch it.  And I thought the US had some wacky laws...  Although, come to think of it, any state in which the age of consent is younger than 18 is really saying the same thing, isn't it?  Never mind. We're just as stupid. lol

I don't think it matters if it's a parent who is legitimately upset over finding that her child reads porn, someone trying to find out if the sites are a good place for pedophiles to lurk, or an anit-kiddie porn person trying to start something.  Both Dia and Pari have responded appropriately and that should be that.
