Nanowrimo

Nov 02 2006 12:13 am   #1ZoeGrace

Ok fess up kids.  Who is doing nanowrimo this month (national novel writing month) http://www.nanowrimo.org

If you don't know what nanowrimo is...it happens each year in the month of november where a bunch of crazy lunatics :) write 50k words (a rough draft of a novel...although of course it can be longer.) in one month.

It's not too late to sign up if you want to at the above web address, and you can write fanfic for it if you want.

This is my third year doing nano.  This year I'm writing a paranormal romance about an incubus.  Last night I got my incubus mythology and outline hammered out.  I even found a way to get these two crazy kids together in a way more than: "Hello my name is Luc, and you'll be my dinner this evening." squee!

Anybody else doing it? And what are you writing?

I suppose I could use it as motivation to finish my novel, which has 3 chapters written. It's a standard modern day romance kinda thing...something fairly simple, theoretically speaking. I was going to have it done 2 months ago...but things get in the way, and...

Well, I haven't worked much on my fanfic, either.

I tried to get on the site, but it took forever for it to load and it stayed white so I stopped. I would like to go but I don't think I have the time to attended, maybe next year. Take notes for me. I do have the outline for my story, just need to sit down and actually write some of it.

And in the air the fireflies
Our only light in paradise
We'll show the world they were wrong
And teach them all to sing along

Hey Zoe - I'm doing NANWRIMO this year again.  Vampire novel - what else?  My worthy heroine is a microbiologist who studies blood.  Only 2500 words behind schedule and haven't got my tee shirt yet.  Damn.

GoldenBuffy - Nano's site is working better if you want to scope it out.

If we want her to be exactly she'll never be exactly I know the only really real Buffy is really Buffy and she's gone' who?

heh awesome Spikez_tart.  I wrote a vampire novel my first year, and then last year wrote the second draft  I was gonna write the third draft this year, but I think there is a reason i keep stalling out on it...I'm just not at a place where I can fix it yet.

So I decided instead of going against the flow of the universe...(since 70k people are writing something new) to write something new as well.

I'm pretty excited about my story this year, and my characters kick ass.  I totally heart them and they belong together forever ;)

I'm up to 12,118 words which is right on schedule for me, since i'm aiming for 90k this year.  I haven't won nano yet lol, but this year I want to do 90k cause i'm a crazy person.

In the past few months with the fanfic I found myself writing 3k a day pretty easily so I've made that my daily goal for this year.  I hope to have the completed rough draft by November 30th.

Zoe - 90K - you are crazy.  I did basically no work until 10/31 so I'm sure I'm going to be in trouble in about one more week.  Should have worked on my next Buffy.

If we want her to be exactly she'll never be exactly I know the only really real Buffy is really Buffy and she's gone' who?

muahahahahaha yes I am.  Now I have to go write my 3k for the day and get up to 15k. ;)

That's a lot to expect of yourself Zoegrace, but you seem to be managing quite well. I am finally up to a whopping 5000 words, but I am hoping on a 1/2 day Wednesay and Friday home BY MYSELF to get back on track.  Not sure how Thanksgiving will go, but I hoping that will push me over the top.

yes well, i'm a kept woman, so writing and school part time is literally all I have to think about getting done.

And now i'm at 15,213 words.

No fair Zoe - I'm already a day behind and my story stinks and I have my main character.  I think I like her twin sister better.

If we want her to be exactly she'll never be exactly I know the only really real Buffy is really Buffy and she's gone' who?

haha so switch main characters. ;)

oh and: 18,178 words. ;)

I'm thinking my vampire might make the better character after all.

If we want her to be exactly she'll never be exactly I know the only really real Buffy is really Buffy and she's gone' who?

cool! go for it!

That's working out much better, if I can restrain my Spuffy references.  Only 3,000 words behind.  Eek!

If we want her to be exactly she'll never be exactly I know the only really real Buffy is really Buffy and she's gone' who?

hahahahaha.  I just try to remember that there are other sexy appealing sort of evil but not completely men out there besides spike...I know I know...that's like heresy... ;)

I'm up to 24,467 words.  I wrote more today than I normally do, to finish a chapter, 3,289 words.  I am totally stoked with how this is going.  Yesterday I was floundering a bit wondering if I had enough action, but I think that I do.  And due to bizarre circumstances my incubus has developed compassion, which is good, he can't be completely evil for a romance story to work out...cause I gotta get these two crazy kids together. ;)

But this chapter...he was a bit more scary and growly...he's definitely in an internal struggle and it's heating up.  There's more action today, and some snarky banter, and the ever lovely Unresolved Sexual Tension. (he's not sleeping with her yet, he's feeding from other people right now, which is another little conflict hehe)

WOOT

I love these characters!  They totally belong together forever, I heart them. squee! :)
