Your story popped up in one of the rec boxes, so I just had to read it again. And I love it! Made me cry at the end. You are such a gifted writer; you paint their emotions so well. You should be writing every single day! And I don't just say that because I'm your BFF and beta. I say it because it's true, and as this story points out, sometimes things just need to be said.

Thank you honey.  You know that your polish makes them readable!  Love you.

Wonderful story. If they just HAD to bring tall dark and brooding into the finale I wish they would've done it this way and made it about closure. The cookie dough speech made me want to hurl, too. Loved this take on it though.
Thank you for reading and commenting.  Glad you enjoyed it.

Spike getting over the kiss just because she said it was a mistake is unbelievable imo
He might have had doubts but she really did try to explain beyond that the kiss was a mistake.  She tried to let him know that HE and what happened between them was what mattered.  I doubt it would be smooth sailing with no rapids and the issue would come up especially if they argue in the future but for now he accepts her love gladly....he was always loves bitch after all.   Thank you for reading and commenting.

very good read, thank you. way it should have gone.
Thank you!  Yes I think this would have been more in line with the way it had been going instead of her stupidly reviving hopes for some future with Angel....that was nonsense and didn't fit with what they had shown between Buffy and Spike.  Thanks again.   K

Wow, you've been busy Kathleen! :-) This was a lovely re-write of the show, but still sticking to some of those wonderful lines and moments. If only it had really been like this...
Thanks!  I think she was emotionally at this place and the whole thing with Angel showing up was moree a sop to Bangel fans and didn't really fit.  This made more sense to me.  Kathleen

Loved it !! The way it shoulda gone ! HATED the cookie dough speech on the showUGH ! IMO that was the writers giving the Bangels a bone. It totally did not match what Buffy had gone thru all the years after Angel left her and what she felt for Spike in S7. They should have told an honest story and not try to please fans of a ship that had been over for years . Sorry I kinda ranted , but that scene really pissed me off hehe..

Thank you for this lovely story!  :)
Oh no rant away!  I completely agree with you.  It made no sense at all and stuck out like a sore thumb.  Poor Spike had good reason to doubt those words thanks to them doing this.  Thank you.

Beautiful!  A true masterpiece! If only that's how they had filmed it...
She knew her heart by then and should have let him know before facing probable death (hers or his or both).  Thanks.   k

It's nice to believe that Spike knew Buffy's feelings -- if only!
I agree...she should have made her feelings clear BEFORE that battle.  It wasn't the time to hold back.  Thanks.

Another very neat new story - like how you used that "cookie dough" to great advantage with a Spuffy POV - plus the connect with "does it have to mean anything" was very effective.

I think I will always hate that Buffy-Angel kissing hello scene - to me it felt completely false and something that was used primarily as a tribute to the earlier season.  Very much liked your use of l those extremely important scenes between Buffy-Spike and Buffy-Angel - needless to say; I like your conclusion much better.
OH I hated that whole part with Angel.  She had so obviously moved on from him even before she started up with Spike that it made no sense.  The entire speech was misdirected too since commitment was NEVER the issue with her where Angel was concerned (Spike, yes).  The issue was and always would be the curse (and that neither really "knew" the real person they supposedly loved for that matter).  It made no sense except to be a bone thrown to Bangel shippers as the series was coming to a close.

Would you be interested in doing some fabulous art for these one-shots?  You are so talented and I don't want to impose but would love it if you could find time.

Speaking of time.......Now that we are catching up on the work backed up from when my back was out we might get some free time and we'd love to get together again at your convenience.  Lunchtime works best with our schedule.

*hugs*

Amazing how little really needed to be changed to make it all come out so much Spuffier, isn't it? This is how it should have been! Well done!
Yup...all it needed was for Buffy to say what her actions had been screaming all season long.  Thank you!
