I made this account so that I could say that I read this story years ago, and I remember holding it close to my heart. I reread this story -- particularly this chapter, with Buffy traumatized and taking comfort -- around once a year now. It is so meaningful to me, and I am so glad that it is still somewhere that I can find it and read it. I cannot tell you how much it meant to me, in a way that I can't quantify or explain, to read this story; your writing is beautiful, your characterization vivid, and I think more than anything you capture the immense and torturous power people can have over one another. Even if you never write another word of this story, to me it is still a nearly perfect thing. I held onto it when I was struggling, when I felt trapped and unlovable, and it gave me a sense that things could be better, that they would be, even if misery felt interminable.

I know this story is old, and will very probably be left unfinished, but it's one of the best Spuffy fanfics I've ever read, so I feel compelled to drop a comment.
Captivating, incredibly well written and totally in caracter, unlike many other fics where Buffy and Spike are thrown in each other's arms as quickly as possible. You've done a great job.

Figures; I find you some two years after you've stopped being active on any of the forums I find your fanfics on. Was re-reading some stuff by Pika-la-Cynique and found you through some convoluted google-fu. Read your epics, then found this. I confess to indifference towards BtVS, and the Angel tv series, found I can't look away from the visceral portrayals you did of what would have to be one of the best 'opposites attract' story-potentials I have had the pleasure of reading, both in this and the more fairytale laden West of the Moon, East of the Sun. Dammit the sheer richness of the emotions churning and boiling between these two makes your work an absolute pleasure to read, whether they are hatefucking in Dust or discovering each other in WotM,EotS, and I find myself despairing of seeing your work ever again, let alone seeing the conclusion to Dust. You have had me alternately crying from laughter, cursing the blindness of your pairing, and railing at foolish, immature notions of 'This is Black and Evil, This is White and Good, and Never the Twain shall Meet'


I have gone from your Labyrinth fics to BtVS Sbuffy, and I eagerly await seeing you update once more. Saw the long hiatuses you've had and now I hope to see you coming back with more. I realise this may be fairly pointless and you may never see it, but I'd love read more from you.

Can I just say that I am dying to read more of this! You promised that this story hasnt been abandoned so there\'s still hope left in the world! I have been utterly hooked reading this stories till the wee hours of the night and not regretting it one bit. Because I cannot get enough of your work and Spuffy in general i\'m going to go rest West of the Moon now, but DUST resonates with me and has a very special place in my heart. I\'m going to read it again when I have time, too. And i reallly want to read the next chapter. Anyway i\'ll keep it short because its 4.08 am and my eyes are blurry and i\'m on my iPhone and my fingers hurt, but also because i cannot describe in words how beautiful, precious, unique and inspirational your fanfic DUST has been and it will forever be one of my all time faves. I just finished reading this and I really really hope you will continue it (I noticed on your lj that the last mention of it was over a year ago and that doesn't bode very well...)

Extremely good story!     PLEASE SAY YOU WILL FINISH IT SOMETIME!      I have read some very good fan fiction, and even more BAD fan fiction.    THIS IS DEFINITELY OF THE GOOD!!!!

Ive read several of your stories & they are fantastic. Your characters are so spot on with the origional show, if these were actually books i would buy them. I hope you add to this story soon. Love it!

I fell in love with this story awhile back, but I haven't seen any updates. Are there anymore chapters than chapter 32? Maybe on another website? Please update... I want to know how these two save the town from their endless slumber. Just wanted to let you know how much I truly enjoy reading all of your stories. This one is fantastic and I can not wait to read more!

Nice riff on the Angel question.  One of the many things that Joss never resolved but hangs out there like a big old hangnail.

Fantastic chapter.  The whole taking us and Buffy back to that pivotal moment with the Master - and the moment in the dark when she now realises, with no fanfare but with the awful weight of realisation: that Angel could have saved her.  Attempted it, at least.  Just as Spike did, these years later, with no sense at that time of what had transpired years earlier.  Their mixed-up relationship, Slayer and soulless vampire, only girl and boy awake with girl and boy very awake parts ......... worth waiting for, this.  Thank you!

TextI  I was so happy to see an update.  I really like how you have written Buffy and Spike and the CPR scene was very emotional to me.  I could see Buffy's face and almost feel her reaction when Spike breathed into her mouth. I also liked their physical and emotional attachment on the walk back to the house and in the shower.  I love this story and look forward to more chapters.

Great to see another update - gorgeous chapter ending; nice to see them falling asleep in one another's arms.  Poor Buffy, pulled one way by her slayer training and another way by her instincts.  You made a comment over on your livejournal about Buffy being harder to write than Spike.  I agree that she is, but you bring her (both of them actually) to life so well.  Can't wait for next chapter.


 

Please don't keep us waiting that long the next time. I like this story and I want to read more. Try to update it as soon as you can. PLEASE.
