So the spell didn't work at all, that's probably for the best. This is really hard for Buffy, but it will be interesting to see what she can find about William.

Oh, I see the difference now.  I didn't get that she was kinda defeated since she arrived in her new reality.  Seeing an even slightly proactive Buffy makes things a little clearer.

  Anyway, I am looking forward to Buffys journey, One thing that always bugged me is that post show Buffy has yet to deal with any of her issues besides being lonely or lost.  I don't know, the Buffy I watched had just a shit ton of of emotional issues that are never touched. She just seems to have an I'm the slayer moment and everything is back to status quo.

 Ok, we'll that was just a long complainy way of saying I really dig self discovery Buffy, so I kinda didn't want this chapter to end. Great work.

Your best fic yet. I do not mean this condescendingly, because you are a fantastic writer and I always enjoy reading your stories. The storylines are always fresh and new, which says a lot for this fandom, where thousands of stories have been written over the last 15 years, covering every conceivable tale. Whew! Thank goodness Buffy is still Buffy and remembers Spike. Is it wrong that I feel a little bit sorry for Riley? It's a new experience for me...

I'm so very glad it didn't work and that she still has all her memories of Spike.

So maybe the powers didn't know about the claim because it seems that somehow she knew. She did her paper on the time period Spike was from, it could be bits of the claim leaking through. Riley is a bit thick isn't he? She doesn't remember this life they've had together and that means she isn't going to just fall back into whatever routines they had.
