I've read it with this beautiful but sorrowful song playing in the background and I'm about to breakdown...and...:(
*hands tissue*. ... I just can't see how they wouldn't be sad after losing Spike and Anya.  K

*sniff* This is lovely, but I have tears falling and I think my poor son is worried. LOL

Thank you for the lovely, caring way you looked at Buffy and some of her more dubious actions over the years... people are often quick to dismiss her as a heartless bitch, and she wasn't. As well as the emotional barriers and abandanment issues she had because of her father, Angel, Giles etc...she was also so young to have had to shoulder such a terrible burdon as the fate of the world and she did it selflessly and for years; but there was no way she could have done so and remained sane without hardening her heart to some extent.

It was nice to see Xander's insights also.

*Off to read more*
Thanks hon!

I have a lot of sympathy for Buffy. I really can't see Spike loving her so deeply if she really was a heartless bitch as people often assume. She was young and in a real bad place for much of the time from S5 on. Spike understood that fully.

I think Xander was beginning to mature there at the end and I think Buffy was starting to come out of her bad place too.

So glad you liked this one.

I love how you captured the sadness and perspective of both Buffy and Xander and that they both realized what they lost in the fight. I like how Buffy realized her emotional shortcomings and the reason behind her actions with Angel as well as if Spike had survived she would probably continue the same ‘dance’ she had been having with him. I also like the realizations that Xander came to about his relationship with Anya and how he never showed her any respect for what she might know. I like how you connected their feelings with the word ‘never’ and that you also showed Buffy’s reaction to Xander calling her leader with what had happened just a few days before.
Thank you for the lovely detailed feedback...you've made my day. k

that was so poignant, very sad and well written, very much enjoyed both xander's and buffy's reflections on their lost loves :)
Thank you. I especially appreciated the well written remark...from a writer I admire it means so much. k
