Nice tender moment between Spike and Buffy. It's a relief to know she's behaving appropriatly. Your description of Spike's wincing and walking bow-legged gave me sympathy pains for him. Poor baby. Well, I'm on to chapter four. You've got me hooked, now.

Really liked your Riley characterization - both the part where he didn't intend to rape Spike, and the part where he's starting to think he likes it. Excellent conflict.

That's our Spike, thinking of her when he's the one that needs the attention. Riley just might have gone to the dark side if he got off reliving the rape, sick bastard. Unless Buffy can get the doctors to remove the chip, there isn't much she can do to keep Finn from hurting him again and again. Dawn doesn't need to get in his way either, no ones safe from him but Buffy and then he can always get the Initiative involved. Bet Xander's going to have to feel for the vamp too. I love how you're taking this story. What's happened to Spike is bad enough. If he'd had to be alone, and hide this from everyone as well, it'd be utterly heartwrenching.

Thank you Anya for the 'don't smell like Riley when you visit Spike' suggestion. Her years of experience as a demon were definitely underutilized in the show. I think Buffy's response to the incident is NOT going to be pleasant.

Yay Riley's going to get his butt served to him on a plater. I can't beleive he thinks he can go back to Spike if Buffy tells him no, grrrr. Jerk. Need more like now.

One thing I hated about Into the Woods was that Riley and Buffy both blame Spike for her finding out. Whatever his reason for showing her , would Buffy really prefer to be ignorant? Even the guy who write the synopsis for the episode describes it as Spike interfering in thier relationship.
And here iley is once again refusing responsibility for his own actions.


Anya and Giles are again stellar in the chapter. Trust Anya to figure out that he would be able to smell Riley on Buffy .

Oh, I hope Riley doesn't get a chance to come near Spike again. Of course, if Spike has room to maneuver, he'll just out-speed the bastard and still be safe.

Nice to see Buffy trying to be as considerate as possible.

What's really different about this fic is that Spike is actually getting some support from the Scoobies! That's really refreshing and a nice change of pace. Great story! Can't wait to see how Buffy handles Riley!

Another good chapter. I totally buy your characterization of Riley. In my own head, Riley's natural reaction to the vamp whore reveal by Spike would have been to stake him. With a wooden stake. Course, that would sort of end the story for Spike, so we can't do that. But this makes more sense than the plastic stake thing.

Like Anya's sensitivity about the vampiric sense of smell.

I like this fic a lot! But to finish the point from my last comment. I totally agree that being raped by Riley is about as catastrophic as it gets for Spike. Really disgusting and humiliating in all the ways that you clearly understand. It's just that I don't think this is Spike's first experience of being raped by a contemptible bastard. See, to my way of thinking, William was a small, pretty boy in Victorian England. And he went to public (i.e. private in the American sense) school. And I don't see how he could have escaped being raped by bastards. In fact, I suspect it happened often. And the only thing that would make the humiliation worse would be to show that he is humiliated. I doubt William was even willing to let it show. And since the whole point of inventing Spike is to not be vulnerable William, I think the impulse to NOT show it would be that much stronger. So in my head, the very last thing Spike would ever do is let others know about this. But that would make it hard to write the fic you are writing. And the moves you are making opens up interesting doors. And that's what makes fanfic so fun! Thanks!!

Wow, I just found this story and am very glad I did. It's incredibly amazing, especially the intensity you've written with! The first chapter was exquisitely gruesome and gah, totally had me tearing up! :) Very worried about where Riley's going and I hope Buffy and Spike totally kick his creepy rapist arse!! Great chapter, can't wait for more.

great chapter, love how you're having buffy react in this...she's not just accepting it easily and going directly onto the warpath, but she is allowing herself to believe spike, instead of automatically taking riley's side...loved it, pet, looking forward to more :)
