CHAPTER FOUR-                               SHOW ME YOUR MOVES

Waving for another round of drinks, Buffy laughed as Willow and Xander argued over who was really in charge- Jeannie or Major Nelson. Willow was coming strongly down on the Major Nelson side of the argument, claiming he used her love for him to his ‘unlawful advantage’. Xander disagreed; pointing out that the genie always seemed to get her way in the end.

Tara was long gone; she’d volunteered to take Dawn home around midnight, needing to sleep herself before classes tomorrow. Anya was trying to figure out who the mystery band was half an hour before it came on, which broadly meant she sat there and said random band names loud enough to see if she could get a noticeable reaction from one of the staff.

Spike still sat comfortably next to the Slayer, waving away her protest as he paid for their share of the new round. Earning himself a hard glare from Xander for not shouting all of them, he leaned back, his deft fingers tracing idle patterns up and down Buffy’s leather-clad leg.
He smirked every time his hand headed upwards, slightly higher each stroke, hearing her heart pound or her breath catch, the smell of her steadily budding arousal sparking his own.

His finger slid over the Slayer’s thigh, up over it, down between the two to caress the most sensitive nerves on the underside of her leg. Feeling her own hand stop it’s soothing rubbing, now more than halfway up his thigh, he grinned as she slid he hand down to hold his leg, a strangely possessive gesture for once mortal enemies.

Buffy tried to ignore Spike’s fingers as she joked and laughed with her friends, her body getting both the right and wrong reaction from it at the same time. Feeling herself grow wet and aroused from his caresses, she halted her own finger’s movement, shooting him a warning look.

He only smirked and continued his idle drawing up and up and up her leg.

Pursing her lips in amusement, Buffy shook her head, sliding her hand down to hold Spike’s leg, as if they were curled up on the couch together. I didn’t stop him, but it shocked him enough that his hand didn’t go any higher.

Making sure the other Scoobies weren’t watching, she winked teasingly at him, giggling at his expression of shock. Running a tongue over the bottom of her teeth as she grinned, she watched his lips purse into a smirk, and turned back to the conversation at hand.

Anya was well into the J’s of her list, still with no success and Xander and Willow had finally finished their debate to turn back to the rest of the gang.

“Buffy! Why aren’t you dancing?” Willow asked, brow furrowed. Her exclamation forced Spike’s above-table attention away from Buffy, and he returned to his beer. “You should be dancing! It’s fun!”

“Why aren’t you dancing then?” Buffy laughed as Willow’s expression turned to something akin to horror. “How’re you going there, Ahn? Pick a winner yet?”

Anya frowned in disappointment, turning back to the group and snuggling up to Xander, who threw his arm around her shoulders. “No. You think I would have by now, I’ve listed almost every single one I have heard of.”

“Yeah, pet. But I don’t think it’s very likely that Elvis or the Beatles are likely to show.” Spike pointed out, grinning.

“You never know.” Buffy poked his shoulder. “It is the Hellmouth.”

“Yeah,” Xander laughed. “Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome to the stage: Zombie Beatles—“

“And Elvis the Undead!” Buffy finished, high fiving Xander.

“It’d be great! You know, until Elvis and Ringo started feasting on the brains of the audience.” Xander added as an afterthought. “And I’m sure Buffy would take a few hits to her popularity when she killed two of the most famous people ever.”

“Probably for the best they don’t show then,” Buffy agreed, swallowing a mouthful of cocktail. “Besides, I don’t think even they could hit a note undead.”

“Why don’t you get up there, Spike? We hardly heard anything from you during our little trip down musical lane.” Xander asked, actually smiling at the vampire, who returned the grin with an evil twist.

“Same could be said of you and your girlfriend here, Droopy Boy.” He retorted, “Or Red for that matter.”

Xander waved his hand dismissively at Spike, evidence that he may have had a few too many to drink. Willow simply continued to look terrified for a moment, before fumbling for her phone. Mumbling something about calling a cab and going home before Tara fell asleep, she hurriedly left the club, and Buffy grinned at Spike.

“Stage-fright,” she explained, shrugging.

Xander soon turned to Anya to strike up conversation, to which Buffy half listened, while Spike simply stared at the woman readjusting her hold on his leg. She was so beautiful.

The dance floor lights bounced off her hair and danced on her skin, lighting her up as if she glowed. She wore a slight smile on her lips, like she was content to sit here, with him and her friends, like it was some sort of double-date. He smirked.

Buffy sat bolt upright as a finger stroked slow and purposefully over her centre, eliciting a loud gasp. Xander and Anya turned to stare questioningly at her, and she quickly pointed at the stage. “The manager. Mystery band.”

Buffy shot Spike a glare, but the vampire was actually shaking with silent laughter. Shaking her head at his triumphant grin, she turned to face the stage with the other two, her hand still on Spike’s thigh.

“Ladies and Gentlemen,” the manager announced, and Xander immediately fell into a fit of giggles, muttering about ‘dead Elvis’. He really had had a little too much to drink. “It gives me great pleasure to introduce our Mystery Band tonight, a Sunnydale first! It’s Three! Doors! Down!”

Anya moaned in disappointment at herself as cheers erupted all around the room and the band took the stage, the unmistakable first chords of their first song striking up over the screams. Buffy grinned, grabbing Spike by the hand and pulling him up to stand with her.

“C’mon Spike,” she shouted over the crowd, grinning and tugging playfully at his jacket with her free hand. “Show me your moves.”

Spike tightened his jaw, smiled, and shook his head at her, exasperated. Shrugging at her he undid his button-down and pulled both it and his jacket off, revealing the long sleeved shirt underneath.

“You came as Superman?!” Xander shouted disbelievingly after the vampire as he followed Buffy into the masses, completely ignored as Anya tugged him up to join them on the dance floor.
