Holiday movies!!!

Dec 23 2006 11:18 pm   #1The Space Between

Ok, so I'm a tad bit late when it comes to watching adult movies...and by adult I mean anything over a G or PG rating (not XXX). Being a single Mom with all of my family living in other states, when a movie comes out that looks really good that is rated above PG13, I have to wait for it to come out on DVD (thank you Netflix) as I am not fond of going to the movies by myself or taking my 7 and 4 year olds out to see somethng that would bore them silly or stuffies they should not see. As it is now, my 7 year old son loves BtVS and I have to skip certian parts so he doesnt see all the heavy/sexy stuff.

So...I just finally saw Love Actually, Serendipity on DVD and took my sons to the movies today to see Night at the Museum.

I so love all 3 of these movies!! Ben Stiller is just humourous as always and NatM is just a kid's dream come true. I was one of those kids that believed like a whooooooooole lot of other kids that when the museum closed, everything came to life and this movie just totally rocks that theory!

As for the other two...I'm a John Cusak fan (he needs to marry me) and have a bit of a crush on Hugh Grant (he's dorkily sexy in LA) and both of these were just the perfect romantic comedies set during the holiday which makes them even more perfect considering the holidays are here! ^^

So yeah...go see these movies and no picking on me about the secret I just revealed cause I know a good number of you guys are also suckers for romantic comedies!!! :P

I went to see Night at the Museum last night too!! It was AWESOME!!!! I was laughing at Dick Van Dyke and Mickey Rooney all with the "Waaaaaa!" and stuff, lol. I thought they were dead and for them to be like THAT was just unreal. And Robin Williams was spectacular as usual.

My fave line: "Good lord, Lawrence, why are you slapping a monkey?"

How did he say that with a straight face? And did I detect slashy undertones between Jeb and Octavius? *wink wink*

Unfortunately, we had big vampires in the next room, and I didn't think they'd wait while we had hot monkey sex. ~Cerulean Sins :: (Anita to Jean-Claude)“Is there anything your bloodline does that doesn’t involve getting naked?" ~Danse Macabre :: I’m dating three men, living with two more, and having occasional sex with two others. That’s seven men. I’m like a pornographic Snow White. I think seven is plenty. ~Danse Macabre

I hope to be taking the kids to see NightM as well, maybe sometime next week. I want to see Serendipity as well, but the DVD drive on my laptop went a died on me so I have to wait until I get a new one. I don't like waiting until the kids go to sleep to watch movies on the TV. *sigh* Oh, another good movie which isn't a holiday one is Man on Fire, its really good.

Ever since I joined this new DVD rental thingie, I am SO catching up on everything I've missed over the years! Last night I watched Closer (really good movie...kinda made me sad though and I wanted to punch Jude Law in the nose and completely rape Clive Owen within an inch of his life) and of course I'm catching up on all of the AtS series. Nother reason why I love this new movie rental company! You can rent your fave TV shows on DVD like BtVS, AtS, Scrubs, Serenity etc., etc., etc.

Because of Netflix, I've totally given up Blockbuster!! I made a HUGE list of all the movies I want to see, put them in the order that I want to see them, they send me the top 3, (you can have it set up that they send you 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 movies at a time) and I watch them and then send them back and they send me the next 3 on my list and so on and I never have to leave the house except to go out to the mailbox!! And they always have what I want so I don't have to worry about beating other people out to the store first for a copy of something new.

I pay 20 bucks a month, flat fee and end up with about 15 movies a month that I can keep as long as I want (I ended up keeping Serendipity and The Lake House for like a week cause I watched them 2-3 times apiece) whereas with the other, it was 20 bucks for just 4 movies which you had to return in like 1-3 days (overnight for a new release, 2-3 for others) or pay out the butt in late fees.

Bleh...I sound like I work for the company as much as I went on about it!

Ah well! Still! They are a newish kind of thing and worth talking about and sharing with all of you so check them out! They are awesome!

Now for the movie part to this post...

GIMME THE NAMES OF MORE ROMANTIC COMEDIES!! Stuff worth seeing like Must Love Dogs, The Lake House, Serendipity, Love Actually...along those lines. Seriously...I've been out of the loop for like 5 years now and just recently caught up to the Bridget Jones movies =/ So what are you favorite, giggly, romantic 'awwww'-worthy movie recommendations?!?

well i'm more into drama, horror, thrllers and whatnot but a romance i'll watch now and then. i like how to lose a guy in ten days, the forgotten (sci-fi but romantic under tones), dirty dancing ('cause one can never have to much of that, lol). that's all i can think of.

glad you did that plug for netflix, lol. i was thinking about joining just wanted to know how good they were.

Sweet Home Alabama, just watched it tonight, very nice. DD Havanna Nights, haven't watched it and don't plan on it. I've had so many ppl say it's cheesy. Plus, who can improve on the first one, lol. But I may just rent it for the dancing. :)
