What was everyone's college majors in BTVS?

Was it ever mentioned and I just didn't notice?  I know that Riley's was probably phsycology or something similar, but I was wondering about Buffy, Tara and Willow.

I don't think it was ever mentioned. In season 3 Choices, Willow says something about "designing her own curriculum" - so she may be creating her own major.

I think we can be fairly confident that Riley was a graduate student in the psychology department. While I know some smaller colleges use undergraduates as teaching assistants, I think it would be pretty unusual at a big state school. (He's introduced in "The Freshman" as the TA for Psych 105.)

I assume Buffy dropped out before she declared a major. But I can't find a shred of evidence that Willow ever declared a major, and she must have ... frustrating.

Without being at all confident on the subject, Tara always seems to be taking Art History classes.  At one point, Buffy chides Willow for being Miss I Declared My Major in Play Group, or something like that.  Willow seems to have abandoned her pursuit of computers and technology in favor of controlling everyone's lives with magic.  Willow might have been headed to perpetual student land of multiple majors and Phd's as long as they never make her leave school.

Doesn't Giles say something about majoring in history?  And, wasn't that Parker the Poophead's major, too?  And, isn't there some huge, deep, convoluted connection we can make between the two of them both having the same major in the Buffyverse??

I'm pretty sure that Buffy was headed for majoring in Shrubs.

If we want her to be exactly she'll never be exactly I know the only really real Buffy is really Buffy and she's gone' who?

For some reason, I always thought Riley was majoring in engineering while minoring in psychology.

Willow was a multiple - she was Computer Sciences, with a dash of Psychology and a topping of Scociology/Philosophy and a pink of Art History.

Tara I always had her pegged for Art major of some sort, hence all the art classes she took.

Ionno...this is what I always thought. Doesn't make it absolutely true though :D

The characters' majors were never mentioned on the show.  As Eowyn said, Willow does mention being able to design her own curriculum when she decides to go to UCSD.  We can assume that Riley was getting hisMA in psychology since he was the TA for the class.  Tara goes to art history class in "Life Serial," but she doesn't say if it's her major.  Willow takes Buffy to Sociology class in the same episode.

My guess with absolutely no basis on cannon is: Riley = Psychology, Tara = Art History; Willow = Physics/Chemistry since she's always talking about those concepts when she's doing magic; Buffy = dropped out, but she seemed to be interested in Psychology until Prof. Walsh tried to have her killed.

I could see Buffy just going with a general Liberal Arts degree, unless something really peaked her interest, as she was never a "school is great" girl. She's the type who goes to college because it's expected of her. Hence why she didn't fight super hard to resume her education.

I can see Willow with either Computer Sciences, or Chemistry. I believe she was being recruited by computer industries her senior year. Computers seemed to be a first love, and then the other sciences.

UC schools require SO MANY electives, that it's hard to determine what Tara's was, without a statement. You have to fill your schedule with tons of courses that don't have a thing to do with your major just so you can be a "well-rounded individual". It's no wonder that it takes 5 years for a lot of people (or more). You have to give up sleep and a social life to do it in 4! I was really glad to be going to a smaller private college when talking to my friends in the state schools here.

LOL Caro - Evil educational system that forces students to actually learn something for the $50,000 that they're paying.

It is a bit evil.....I knew so many people that had to spread out their years just because the required elective classes were held at the same time as their major classes. And don't even get me started on how the cost goes up every year!

I do feel sorry about how much it costs.  My entire tuition was under $2500 and I went to a major party school in Florida.  Learning optional.

doubtful Giles would have said he "majored" in anything- in England we have degrees focusing on one subject. i think he mentioned a degree in history or something like that.

Man, you guys shell out so much - the joy of a government subsidised English education. Spikes wish is right, one subject only over here, unless you are overkeen and take a dual honours... which given Giles temperament at the time, is highly unlikely.

I have no idea.  When you click the "link" icon http://www.spuffystuff.org you don't get the link?   Or, when you copy/paste text: "He was a genuine superhero."  What happens? It seems to showing up for me.  I clicked the link icon, got a box, entered the url and came out with a link. Ditto for the next part. I just went to LJ, copied a comment from someone, and pasted it in here. No problem.
