I'm pleased you used the "Betty" thing, as that was one of the funniest things in an wonderfully funny episode. That and the Jonathan swimsuit calendar.

Just enough flitter of defiance!

 "Superstar" is one of my favorite episodes and it's wonderful to get inside Buffy's head when she's under the spell.   Her chafing at the bit was a good catalyst for reasserting herself.  It's a good thing Spike was just hanging about, waiting to help her with it! 

This is a great description:  Trapped. Like she was a tiger in a circus, trained to be docile, to jump from stand to stand, when she was really made for stalking and killing. Like she’d been wild, and free, and someone had caged her.

don't know if you are planning anymore to this, but having a story around "Superstar" is neat.   I don't think I have ever read a Spuffy Superstar Era fic. 

Now that's a way to empower yourself. lol
