Okay, I've just been looking over my older fics, and finding an appalling number of errors....and I'm finally breaking down...and seeking a beta :P

I don't need anything extensive, just someone with excellent grammar skills, who can give my chapters a quick lookover before I put them out, catch any errors I might have accidentally left in the copy....

Also, someone who can read the story with a critical eye, and tell me if there's something that needs fixing (an error in logic, out of character behavior, overuse of one specific word, that sort of thing) Pretty much, I just need a perspective other than mine on my work...does that make sense?

Anybody want to help me?

Okay - I'm crazy.  I already have two writers, but I think I scared them to death when I told them they had to re-write stuff and not just fix the punctuation.  Haven't heard from them since.  I'd be glad to help one of my very favorite writers.  Send me an email.

sounds good...what sort of a turnaround time do you think you'll have? i know you're probably pretty busy, but you know how eager i always am to get my updates out (like one a day usually, anyway :P)

I know your work, and feel confident that you could do exactly what it is i'm needing done....I can't guarantee i'll agree with everything you tell me to do, but my personal idea of things is that if you advise me to change something and i opt not to, i'd put a note to that effect at the top of the chapter, such as :

"Thanks to my great beta, any errors or mistakes left in this are the fault of my personal stubbornness, not hers :P" lol

anyways, just wanted to let you know that and ask that question :)

Hey, DoS.  If Spikez_tart turns out to be too busy or isn't available when you need, I'd be honored to give your chapters the once-over that you'd like.  I've been wanting to beta, and this would be a great start.  I don't have any writers on the roster yet, so my turnaround time would be speedy: same day, one day maximum.  

As for my qualifications, my degree is in Psychology and English Literature.  Grammatical and typographical errors are my forte.  I'm pretty good at noticing out-of-character behavior/speech.  I'm very detail oriented and have a good eye for noticing the little things that most people overlook, such as errors in continuity.  Don't worry--I'm fairly thick-skinned, so I won't take offense if you decide not to change something. They are your stories after all :-)

thanx, love.... since I've had so many kind offers, (3 to be exact) i think i'm just going to have each person take a look at my updates before i post them...that way if someone happens to be too busy at the moment, i'll still get posted pretty quickly, and also i'll have several opinions and perspectives to go by.....
