I always felt that this event was seen only from one side.  Not sure this is how I'd have handled it, but I am glad that it wasn't viewed solely as 'Spike bad', 'Buffy victim'.

When Buffy almost beat Spike to death, and left him for the sun to find, I thought it was one of the most appalling moments of the entire series, yet it wasn't commented on, and she didn't seem to see just how horrible it was.  Especially given that he could have lain there while the sun came up and killed him.

Just because she was the female, and Spike was strong enough to fight her (though he didn't of course) didn't make it anything but horrible abuse.  Taken in context to that moment, especially given the fact that Spike was convinced she missed him, it wasn't surprised that their wires got horribly crossed.

Interesting take on the subject.  Thanks for taking it on.

been reading through your works - like this one very much but I would have liked an alternative ending where Spike talks about the possibility of trying to win his soul back or having the chip taken out and finding out just what he really is capable of sans chip or soul - what kind of new vamp he can really create from only his character strengths and deep emotional desires.
Thanks for the review.  To be truthful in this fic I didn't so much think of Spike as I did of Buffy.  In the show, it was my opinion that she handled things badly (Not that every thing was her fault of course, but there was blame to go around) and this fic was a response to how she could from a certain point try and make things better.

Awesome. Was this a BSV challenge, or a challenge somewhere else? This made me cry.
It was a BSV challenge as I recall

I just couldn't leave without a little bit more of your great writing (check your reviews for Second Youth). This story isn't quite as fluffy by a long shot, but it is just as well written, and shows a great knowledge of the characters. Great job, once again.
**sniff sniff** So glad you prevented him from leaving I was always hoping for that. And now my sleep deprived body is ripping myself from your great works, so until i read more!
Thanks for reading! I'm glad you enjoyed the fic, even if it was a little sad!

you know I read this story when you first wrote it. And probally a couple of dozen times since then when I am in the right mood for it and I could swear I have reviewed before but maybe not. So anyway. Amazing story. I love when I read a story that is EXCATALLY what I want to read and to see it written well. :) it has been and will continue to be a favorite of mine.
Awww, thanks so much! I'm so glad you like. It was difficult to write, but completely worthwhile and I'm happy at how it turned out. Thanks again for reading!

This was a good one. I could have sworn that I read it before, but I didn't see a review here for it. Got to support my fellow Misfit gals. {huggles AD}
Thanks Tasha! *huggles fellow misfit*

AWESOME! You know it always bothered me how Xander just went all commando about Spike in "SR" when Buffy really didn't say anything. So I'm glad to see this twist to that emotional episode.
Thanks OHolly!

Good job with Buffy's and Spike's emotions. I always thought it was ridiculous that she never felt guilty for her treatment of him, never saw her actions as a precipitating factor in his.
Thanks!

Nice conversation. I like the touch of angst and am especially fond of Spike's biting of her. I like stories that don't pull punches. Good work.
Thanks!

Liked the way you wrote her thoughts. How she started seeing what she'd done to him as well. You should continue this.
No plans to continue it as present, maybe someday, when I don't have a tonne of wips waiting for me to write them....Thanks for the review!

Wow. This was awesome!! Really brought me back to the emotions of that episode and this was much more satisfying! You really made me feel Buffy's pain and Spike's disgust and anger with himself. Again, awesome job!
Thanks BSB!
