Oh, is this going to be explored more? I didn't check the date this was posted, but if it was recently, I suggest you stop reading my stuff and get back to writing it. Now, please. :) It's been only a couple weeks, and the answer is "yes, eventually". Real Life and another story idea are ganging up on me and demanding my time at the moment, so there will likely be a delay before anyone sees that next chapter. Alas. I love how everyone gave Angel a whole lot of home truths to digest, let's hope he acts on them... in a good way of course! I'm still trying to decide how Angel is going to handle this information - not that I watched earlier seasons much, but Season 5 really seemed to be about Angel losing sight of the mission and losing confidence in the rightness of what he was trying to accomplish. Things are never easy for these two. Buffy still thinks Spike's dead and it's hard to know what Spike thinks. Will he remember their meetings, I hope so. Angel's not gonna be happy when he hears about Spike's transformation, I fear for him in the clutches of W&H. We need the Scoobies to ride to the rescue. Great update, looking forward to more.

Btw, this is a minor point, but I suspect Dr. Sato (if he's Japanese) would say ne? (pronounced neh) at the end of sentences, rather than hai. Nee (pronounced neh but longer) if it were a question.
Of course, his particular quirk could be different, but ne is used very commonly at the end of sentences in Japanese conversation. It's short for so desu ne, which means roughly, "isn't that right". Oh, thanks for that! I didn't know. I'm glad Fred's awake, I really don't like having Spike at the mercy of Wolfram and Hart, definately not to be trusted. Don't know what to think about Spike's brain activity, is it due to his connecton with Buffy, or is he becoming a real boy? Don't think Angel would like that and if he turned human would he really be Spike.
I'm so glad their connection is still working, I'm desperate for her to find out he's really back, even if she doesn't know where. it's got to give her hope. Love it so far, looking forward to the next update.

just got to read the last 3 chapters - this is so interesting, I find myself reading and re-reading to make sure I got it all, very intriguing magic explanation and the connection between Spike and Buffy is also intriguing. I do really like this story, so glad you are keeping us on edge and finishing this chapter with "hello pet" well, just ooohh! I could hear those luscious tones!
Yeah, my inner nerd has been percolating again. I swear half the time I only write these stories so I can tell people "no no, THIS is how the world works, listen!" Like this one: how is it that vampires are almost impossible to poison, yet respond to drugs all the time? (Answer: MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE WITHOUT FANWANK DAMMIT.)

Well that's not good, can Buffy kill herself in her sleep? Willow needs to get back and investigate what's going on with Buffy's soul. If it's with Spike maybe they can track it down to LA. It's typical that Angel's still causing Buffy misery. Great update.
Glad you're enjoying. Have another chapter. :) Yikes not a good dream, poor Buffy can't even get a break when she's asleep! Looks like Dawn's realising it's time to grow up at last, she's getting there. The birds have all left the nest, and Dawn's more mature than many people realize, in my opinion. Cheers! So Buffy is missing a piece of her soul huh? At the same moment Spike pops out of the amulet. Guess that answers the question of Angel being her soul mate. Hopefully one of the fang gang will call Giles or even Willow. But then we have to hope that one of them will do the right thing and let Buffy know Spike is back. excellent - wonderful writing, just the the right amount of emotion to make my eyes blink several times, Spike knows not to hurt this girl and Buffy sorting things out in her head, I loved this chapter, so glad you are back writing this. I do need another chapter though - when you can, please.
Thanks! A larage part of the delay this time around was that I simply didn't want to put myself in Buffy's shoes long enough to write her. I tend to feel what the characters feel, or else I can't write their emotions in a was that feels believable to me. And I didn't really want to sink into Buffy's pain, ya know? Hopefully I'll be able to get the next chapter out more quickly.

Great update, heart rending stuff. Wish one of the A team would get their act together and let Buffy know what's happening. The betrayal goes on. I did wonder if Dawn would pick up on Buffy's comment about feeling Spike. Given their experiences it's not that weird to wonder if he's still around. Really enjoying this fic, looking forward to more.

I only watched the odd episode of Angel s5, so I missed most of his interaction with Angel and the A1 team. I do hope Spike's not gonna let him undermine his confidence where Buffy's concerned. He seems to have his number, but you can never tell. Wes was acting like a mini Giles, you'd think as a former Watcher he'd be more interested in Spikes role in the last almost apocalypse. I really hope breaking the amulet fixes Spike's problem, I don't want him to spend too much time with Angel. He's a bed influence. Great update.
Much (though thankfully not all) of the dialogue was lifted from the episode itself. http://buffyworld.com/angel/transcripts/090_tran.html However, the show's goal was to keep Spike around to boost the series' ratings, so they kept him a ghost for several episodes and gave him a motive not to go after Buffy. And for some reason the amulet never appears on the show, at all, after this ep. We don't even see what happens to it. If you ask me, this is a plot hole just *begging* to be exploited.
I'm not aiming for a season rewrite or even an episode rewrite, really - despite all the parts I included. My goal was a: to get Spike out of there faster, and b: to showcase Spike's viewpoint and thoughts, so some dialogue where Wesley does ask Spike questions was removed. I could offer the idea that Angel and Co. discussed the apocalypse themselves before Spike returned, but it's anybody's guess whether or not they actually did. Trying to interpret canon when it crosses between two shows is... wonky. :)

Terrific chapter. Loved the way you got inside Spike's head and showed us the real Angel/Angelus, this is exactly how I pictured Angel throughout season 5. Then you left us on a cliffhanger, I love the way you ended it there cos now I really need to read the next part soon!

As soon as she felt Spike leaving her I knew he was being pulled from the Amulet. They connected somehow when they held hands? So as long as he was in the amulet he was connected to her? Giles has apologized. We'll see how their relationship develops, but he isn't the villain in this story.
As for the rest, you'll see. :)
