This is lovely and it makes more sense than canon. Acting contracts aside, it always seemed to me like Angel would have definitely been in contact with the Slayer organization, if not Buffy herself. Of course he would have let her know if any supposedly fallen teammates had reappeared. It's not like I'm a huge Angel fan, but even I don't think he's that petty.
You managed to supply plenty of believable obstacles — of both the emotional and techo-magical — for our heroes overcome. Hurrah! And Lorne was the best at giving Buffy hope, as well as getting her to eat and into kicky outfits.
Promise me you'll get some color and life in your closet before all that utilitarian beige kills us both.
I also loved the exchange with Giles.
He sighed, that long, slow sigh of 'I know you're right, but I'll be damned if I'll say it.'
It's not like he's wrong to be concerned, but they are heroic risk-takers and that's just the way it's going to be. It's good that Buffy has realized it, too.
Cookies to you!
I agree. Angel may be a bit on the whiny, possessive side with Buffy, even after all these years, but he knew there was something between her and Spike, knew she'd want to know he was back. It only makes sense for him to call, even if he probably took a few days to talk himself into it.
The "utilitarian beige" line still cracks me up. It's one of my favorite bits in the entire piece. And it's just so, so Lorne. He's a blast to write.
Thanks for the kind review!

Beautiful. I loved following Buffy's thought processes and her eventual acceptance that she will never have that nebulous 'Normal Life' and is okay with that.
Wasn't that acceptance a few years overdue? I'm happy to know you enjoyed that little scribble. Thank you!

I absolutely loved this. It was thoughtful and reflective in all the right ways. And very reomantic in a none sexy way. Loved it.
Thank you! I honestly never even considered this story romantic. Your comment made me need to read it again, to see it from that angle. I suppose I was too caught up in the balancing acts associated with the journal format to notice!
