I really like the series and I'm glad that you have gotten back to it because I am looking forward to reading the next part. I do hope that there will be some point when they will resolve their problems and get together. All the angst has given strength to the story and truth and credibility to their relationship. It makes it more true to their characters. I still hope they find each other in the end. I don't think you would be selling out if there was a ultimately a happy resolution. They have earned a little happiness.
Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying it. It is a Spuffy story, so they'll get together in the end... just no telling when "the end" will be. :) I don't it's selling out to give them a happy resolution - in fact, I always intended them to be together at some point - but I don't want to cut to that too quickly, and miss out on all that angst and tension. :)

So glad that you are still working on this series - I have enjoyed the entire work thus far and hope that you will find you way back, not to any entire season treatment, but to working with your piece from this point on - plenty of great things to work from.

Thanks! I'm glad you've enjoyed the series so far. I've got it in me to do one more, and then we'll see if it wants to keep going or not. :)

Ruh-oh.

Such a different 'verse, and yet, with some of the same issues as canon.

I'm glad you'll be continuing this.
Yeah, some things are just inescapable. Mostly, I try to deal with the same issues *without* writing everyone out of character, the way I felt season 6 was done.

Plot bunnies giving you a hard time? Scurrying around, not wanting to get caught. Get a cage and put some nice juicy carrots in it and hopefully you'll catch them soon enough. It is a tremdous undertaking to rewrite an entire season. You can only do your best with it, just please don't leave it a WIP. Talk to your beta and see what you can come up with. You're really doing a great job, looking forward to your next posting.
It's more a problem of new plot bunnies looking an awful lot like old plot bunnies. It sounded good when I thought of it, but now I'm realizing there's only so long you can keep Buffy and Spike apart before the conflict gets repetitive. I'm a little hung up on how to end this one, and I need to do some rethinking of the next fic. Thanks for the encouragement!

awww, so glad buffy's coming around when it comes to spike and dawn's friendship...i for one am still loving this fic very much, pet, you're doing an incredible job with it...i'm looking forward to wherever you decide to take it :)
Buffy's never really had a problem with Spike and Dawn's friendship since she got back - it just got awkward after the hallucination thing, so it seemed to make sense that she'd be okay with Dawn seeing him once she was okay with seeing him herself. Thanks for the review! Still not entirely sure what I'm gonna do with it, but I'm glad you like it.

Well, Buffy and Spike were doing pretty well before this, so she's making an effort to be friends, even though she's not totally over it. And she and Dawn have been pretty good... since this isn't the canon season 6, Dawn hasn't been neglected. Thanks for the comments, I'm glad you're enjoying the story!

I'm so glad you updated! I love this series of yours. I'm sorry to read that you think it's going badly; I can only remind you that the BTVS writing team managed FAR more plot gaps and meandering story arcs than you could EVER hope to reach here. If you stop after another chapter I'll be sad, but I'll still be grateful- it really is one of my favorite stories.

Sorry I haven't been here lately. RL has had me pinned to the wall for a while now. Hope to be able to read more often in the next few days.

I hate that Spike's having to go through that but it was partly his fault after all. Just got to see if they can get over it and move on. Very emotional chapter, well done.

strong ending to a very good chapter, thank you. the one thing that might have made it better: if spike would have taken his anger and frustration out and xander (maybe giles?) just kidding. all right, half kidding.
Sorry, I still like Xander and Giles, so Spike won't be taking anything out on them... also, he still has the chip, so it'd probably hurt him, too...

Aftermath
oh man, poor spike... :( that was so emotional and intense...i don't blame him a bit for his reaction...buffy can't help feeling the way she does, either...i just wish xander would be a little more understanding...whatever buffy does while under the influence of the poison is totally not her fault, but whatever spike does is his fault because he's a vampire!! that's so irritating!!!
but this chapter is amazing :)
very well done, love :)
Xander does have a bit of a double standard, but I think he's under the impression that Spike bit Buffy on purpose in order to heal himself. Thanks for the lovely comments! Glad you liked it. :)

Super chapter ending - I love Spikes violent emotional release, very true to his base nature. Love all the conflict and confusion on Buffy's part, glad she doesn't just snap out of such a traumatic event so quickly, it really lends depth to the event itself. Great writing and voice as always! Looking forward to more!
Thanks for the review! Yeah, it's going to take them both a bit of time to get over this... Buffy's hallucinations seemed very real to her, so it'll take effort to not see Spike as the guy who tormented her.

Aftermath
Such a powerful ending to the chapter! You can feel Spike's frustration and grief.

Buffy is disoriented and was already in need of sorting out her feelings to begin with. This is a major set back on that score and poor Spike has been hit by a runaway train.

All voices in character. Nicely done.

Kathleen
Yeah, it's definitely a setback...Buffy's going to have to come to terms with some things before she's ready to pick up where they left off, and poor Spike is caught in the middle of it.

Thanks for the review!

The wonder of slayers blood. Of course Xander just can't help himself. When will he learn Spike stays, when everyone else is gone, Spike stays. I feel bad though, that Spike/William still gave into Dru, even with his love for Buffy, he still gave in to her! Their plans to keep Buffy occupied, sure has worked, hasn't it? Easier to read then the last one, they still have a long way to go, great read, thanks.
Spike still has a lot of Dru issues. I mean, you don't just one day stop loving the person you've loved for a hundred years.

And yeah, that was a pretty good distraction... score one for the bad guys.

GOD, that jerk! Xander, Spike was poisoned! He didn't know what was happening or even if it was a hallucination of Buffy. It was a freaky dream and because her blood snapped him out of it, he was able to get her home safely and head out to get the antidote! Why does everyone have to assume Spike is exactly like Angel instead of actually seeing who Spike himself is?
I really hope Buffy stands up for Spike, in the next chapter, instead of just saying they won't stake him for biting her and forget it. She could try to explain instead of giving in to believing her friends will always hate him and think she's wrong. That's what could make them hurt him behind her back. Looking forward to next chapter
Well, I guess it depends on how Buffy feels about things when she wakes up...

Great chapter. I hope Buffy wakes up soon and tells them that she won't stake Spike for biting her.
How do you know she'll say that? She was hallucinating through most of it... she probably knows less about what happened than the Scoobies do.

And at some point, Xander, you have to grow up and place the blame where it truly belongs, and leave it there. It wasn't Spike's fault he bit her.
There's no accounting for people's issues, and Xander's definitely got some to work through.

Hum....Xander with insight into his own problem with Spike....unexpected! Kind of like it that he isn't oblivious to the why's though even if he has no intention of being fair.

Nice chapter. Hope Buffy doesn't react the same way to the bite.

Kathleen
Xander never seemed oblivious to me. He's always had a very set view of vampires. I think it started right at the beginning with having to stake Jesse - he clings to the idea that vampires can't ever be good to justify killing his friend. Angel reinforced that with his split personality deal, but Spike challenges it by showing that even soulless vamps can change. So, every time Spike does something "evil," Xander latches onto it as proof of his beliefs, even though the reasons have little to do with Spike himself.

09/05/2007 10:41 am
Strong Enough
Spike's never going to get a glimmer of understanding from Xander.
He did, almost, a few chapters back, which is what makes this moment more tragic to me. They'd started to be grudgingly accepting of each other - Xander stopped complaining that Spike was hanging around, and they even found a common interest in the comic book superheroes. They weren't exactly swapping friendship bracelets, but the animosity seemed to be fading.

09/05/2007 06:29 am
Strong Enough
hmmm...that was actually refreshingly honest and perceptive of xander, to recongize that...i could have pictured those lines being in the actual show :) this chapter was excellent, love it :) can't wait to see what happens next :)
I always thought Xander knew why he hated Spike - and he's not really being dishonest about it when he calls Spike a killer and a monster. He really wants to believe that, because he can't accept that individual vampires have varied personalities. They're all the same - all evil, all killers. Even Angel, good guy with a soul, went evil, so why should Spike be any different? Thanks for the lovely review!

Nope, not pleasant, although not necessarily similar. The poison pulls the hallucinations from the person's psyche, so it's personal for each one.

The demon's not dead... The last thing it did was skewer Buffy, then we faded into her hallucination. Confronting Demons
She felt paralyzed by human violence, unable to mete out the vengeance those acts deserved, even as they shattered her black and white morality, harshly challenging her faith in the redeeming power of a soul.

My favorite part. It shows the serious amount of denial that Buffy has to engage in to keep her Angel formed view of souls.
I think it also fits with her growing acceptance of Spike - and the fact that, as far as we know, the main villain for this "season" is a human.

Poor Dawn....sucks to know you're not wanted. Buffy could always make the court get him to pay child support. They don't tolerate deadbeat dads anymore...even ones that split town.
Spike in the car is totally based on a friend of mine. *Cannot* sit still in the car. Actually burned holes in the dashboard with the cigarette lighter, too.

The court would probably be a good option for the child support, but I think a legal battle might be more than Buffy could handle... she's only 20 years old, after all. It's not just a procedural issue, she's taking it just like Dawn - as a rejection by her father.

Coping
See, this is why I always disliked Susan. She was too nosy for her own good. When she got bitten by that vampire, I thought, "good for her." Lol. Thanks for another great chapter though. Your fics are the best. :D .
Heh, she was kinda nosy, but I never really thought she deserved to get bitten. I did like how she came back as a stronger person after coping with the vampire thing.

Tee hee uncomfortable ADHD Spike LOL. You know, I never understood why Harmony was the only one to ever really come on to him on the show...I mean REALLY! The most brainless was the one to see the goodies??

Nice update. Cute hint of an "Interview With a Vampire" there too.

Kathleen
Yeah, I never understood why Spike didn't have women falling over themselves for him... I guess we see it a little bit in CWDP/Sleeper, but it's less fun because he's killing them.

Thanks for the review! The IWaV idea was somewhat unintentional, but hey - it works! :)

I think the idea of getting a new friend, fresh and not embittered like some Scoobies, is great. Susan sounds like she's taking things pretty coolly, I just worry if she'll try to write a story and publish it or turn out to be a spy. I don't know if it was just flirty or if Susan might go after Spike, treat him like a person and have him respond, and we get to see Jealous Buffy.
I love Spike and Dawn interaction and how it's so obvious the three are a family in this. I hope they can shove it down some self-righteous Scooby throats! --- Sorry, I'm just a little annoyed at how they can look down on Spike. I'll try to rein in the disgust and indignation. ---
Also, I believe the demon mentioned is the unpronouncable thing the Nerds set on Buffy in Season Six. I can't wait to see how this story shows the alternate reality venom or however that might affect someone,, after all it might not be Buffy! Even if it is, I'm sure the descriptions and the worries and doubts the episode showed will be greatly expanded upon and shown.
A great update and hope to read more!
Yeah, it's fun to throw a new person into the mix every once in a while. :) Good guess on the demon... but it'll be pretty drastically different from the mental institution alternate reality. Thanks for the review!

Para in My Normal
Good chapter. The emotions all carried really well.
I never understood why she didn't just sell the house. I mean whatever sentimental value (and how much could there really have been?) would have been outwayed by having been where her mom died (along with myriad other unfornate events). To me anyway. Sometimes I think the writers just went the path of most resistance for her, make her more martyr-y.
Thanks! I think part of the reason they didn't sell the house - from the production perspective - is just practical. They would've had to build a new set for wherever Buffy and Dawn moved to, which would've been expensive. Also, the Summers house is a great set for large group scenes - especially after the destruction of the Magic Box, it became the only set for those purposes. Where on earth would they have put all those potentials if Buffy and Dawn lived in an apartment? lol

From my story's perspective, it is a sentimental thing. Remember how Dawn was sad they had to get rid of the statue Joyce liked, when they did the Willow magic purge? It's similar to that feeling, only multiplied by about a thousand, because their mother bought pretty much everything in the house - the furniture, the odds and ends, the wall hangings. Giving it up is like giving up a huge piece of their memories of Joyce. Also, I think it's a benchmark for Buffy - being able to maintain the house proves she's an adult, and having to sell it shows she's a failure.

Whew, that was a long response, lol. Thanks for the review!

I am just glad that Spike has the time for Dawn. They really need each other right now. And Buffy has to be honest with her with what is going on. Just love the chpater.
Yeah, I think Dawn is old enough to handle the truth, but it's a combination of Buffy being overprotective and her tendency to try to handle all her problems alone (damn Slayer complex). Thanks for the review!

Para in My Normal
The nice thing about banks, is that they really want you to keep paying. If you talk to them, something can usually be worked out, but if you don't and just hide, then you're just gonna lose the house. The bank doesn't want to foreclose.....they lose a ton of money on that every time.

About time someone trained Dawn. Considering how many normal kids are in martial arts classes when they're 5, it's stupid to leave the Slayer's sister an easy mark.

And Buffy's finally softening....

Would the demon be the Glarghk?
The bad thing about Buffy, though, is that her instinct in these situations tends to be to hide...

And yeah, it's good for Dawn to be able to defend herself. Buffy kind of lives in denial, thinking Dawn can always be shielded and protected from the bad stuff, but she's gotta learn sometime.

Rumblings of Things to Come
Know one ever gave any thought to Spike's worth as far as researching. As you mentioned, he did have an Oxford education. Not at all the rubbish the Council chose to write about him. Giles forgets about that. I'd always wanted them to form a friendship. As the elders of this group, well educated Brits, it shouldn't be that hard for them. They have more in common then any of them. Great chapter, thanks.
My impression from the show was that the Council knew little if anything about Spike's history as a human. So, Giles probably never knew he was educated, unless Spike told him. I agree, the two of them seem like they could bond easily. There were hints of it happening over the summers (Giles saying "I watched Passions with Spike" the summer between s4 and s5, and their camaraderie at the beginning of s6) but not so much during the show.

Great story and I'm looking forward to the next part.
It's one of my favorite quotes, too. Also - "I never could resist going to the aid of a lady in distress, even if she wasn't completely, 100% certain she wanted to be rescued by me." Hee.

Thanks! It's about time Spike was welcomed into the group - he's already taken a beating for Dawn, helped out all summer, saved Buffy from dying (more than once), and dusted his sire to save her. I think he's earned a little respect, grudging though it may be.

Ha! Knew David was fishy!!!

Buffy, men don't like being told they need protection - reference the times you offended Xander in high school for breaking the guy code? Spike can take care of himself unless he's grossly outnumbered.

She should be honest with Dawn. Dawn isn't a kid, and she could help share the burden, if she knows what it is. At 15, she can work a part time job, and the responsibility would be good for her.
Thanks for the review! Yeah, that upset Riley, too, whenever Buffy acted like he was weaker than her and needed her protection. But I think Spike is secure enough to take it as a gesture of concern, and not as an indication that he's weak.

Buffy should be honest with Dawn... but you know how she's very possessive with her burdens. Buffy always seems to feel like everything is her sole responsibility, and hates to have help (maybe because *she's* not as secure about being weak).

Lovely update. AHA....so they plan to separate Buffy and SPike...well after what Spike said I think Buffy will be watching over him a bit. Might make that plan a bit hard to follow through on.

Love the nonchalance of Spike letting his background as an educated man out for all to hear.

Kathleen
It's a funny thing about Spike - they seem to know all about his history as a vampire (the better to condemn him with), but never really gave any thought to his past as a human. I'm sure Spike is protective of the embarrassing parts, but he'll cop to an education because it makes him useful to the group. Thanks for the review!

I really enjoyed Willow and Spike here. Back in the day (by which I mean season 4) after Oz left I suspected that Spike and Willow would end up together. They always had good chemistry! The writers had different ideas, and I do love Spike and Buffy; but it's nice to see that connection again. Oddly you rarely see it in fic!

Who *didn't* Willow have good chemistry with in season 4? Oz, Tara, Spike... even Riley in the beginning there (I thought they had more chemistry than Buffy and Riley). I like to build the Spike/Willow friendship in this fic. Glad you enjoyed it!

OH that was so good, Willow bringing up his trying to bite her before, to get him to bite her.

Not scaring, well you never know.

So he is going to get training for Willow, what about Tara.

Willow and Spike always did have a funny relationship... the non-bitey scene in The Initiative is so adorable, with him assuring her she's bitable and her encouraging him to try again later...

And Tara may benefit from the teacher, but she was already taught magic by her mother (rather than learning by trial and error, like Willow) so she doesn't really need instruction the way Willow does.

Great chapter. I'm glad Willow wasn't offended by the fact that Giles wanted another witch to train her.

Free donation to Spike....just seems odd.

Yup, not Dru's style, like Spike said. The perp is still out there.
It may seem odd for Willow to let Spike bite her, but I wanted to show that Spike is gaining the trust of the Scoobies... he's winning them over one by one. He's always had Dawn on his side, and in Love's Bitch we saw Tara being sympathetic. Anya's never really had a problem with him, so all he needs to do is win over Giles and Xander... no problem, right? :)

Sweet. Yay Willow. :-)

Heh... not all bites are sexy. We've seen plenty of vamps bite people without it being like the Buffy/Spike bite. The Slayer blood is a factor (since it's an aphrodisiac), but also the connection between them intensifies it.

Just wanted to say how much I'm enjoying this story!

I'm not typically a huge fan of "biting" stories. Too often the bite seems shoe-horned in, and has little or nothing to do with the plot, but this fits beautifully. It advances the plot (Buffy's growing acceptance of Spike, and and her attraction to and care of him) and never feels forced. Very nicely done!

And as usual you writing is gorgeous, and the story fascinating and well told. I'm always happy to see you've updated!
I'm not much of a bitey person, either. I think this is only the second story I've written with one. Thanks for the lovely review! I'm glad you're enjoying it.

Thats nice. It got the message across that the biting is sexy without turning the fic into a pwp. Too many authors can't quite manage that.
Good chapter overall especially Willow at the end. Typical sweet Willow that should have been seen more after season four, if only to show how bad she was getting.

Willow's offering now? What's her angle? That is totally unexpected......

Poor Dawnie...still dealing with those "everybody gets hurt because of me" issues. Nice to see them have cuddle time.

Brilliant to finally have Buffy tell some truth and stick up for Spike for once. Even though she's still fighting the relationship like hell.
Willow's angle? I think she just wants to help. Glad you enjoyed the chapter!

Tee hee... Willow the brave little toaster volunteers LOL.

Xander is in a snit that could prove dangerous.

Loved the tender scene with Dawn.

Loved the bite scene....very erotic as it should be traditionally. Nothing violent and scary like with Angel. Excellent.

That had a sweet and innocence about it, an understanding. Just hope he didn't hear the part about him being "just a vampire," to Buffy. Now to see where this leads...
Spike heard pretty much the whole conversation they had out in the hall... but I think her actions show him that he's not "just a vampire" to her anymore.

Gahh, she doesn't realize how much she hurts him, does she?? How much the things she does affects him?

Anyways, very well written chapter. You captured Buffy's confusion of Spike's well characterized reaction of Drusilla's death; and were able to do so without incredibly strange sentence structure (sorry bout that) Great job! I can't wait to read more:)

Great chapter. I love the changes you made.

Poor Buffy. It's really hard for me not to feel empathy for her here, even when I want to scream at her and smack her upside the head. The scene where she's stroking Spike's hair and sees his trusting, almost childlike expression is so bittersweet it almost makes me want to cry. Very tender moment for both of them and very well written.
Aww, thanks, UB. And thanks for all your input on the scene - I think it's definitely better because of it.

Really good chapter. It flows really well, even Buffy's jerky speach fits well with the tone. And its so easy to know exactly what Buffy's thinking and feeling just from the way you've set up her words.

man, the girl is a walking contradiction! she'll stand there and basically tell him, "In case you were wondering, I didn't save you because I actually *care* about you or anything" and then the second after that hurtful little speech, offer him her own blood to heal...
she *really* doesnt get it, does she?
great, wonderful chapter, love, looking forward to more :)
Oh, Buffy is a muddly mess, isn't she? But she wasn't trying to say, "I didn't save you because I care about you" - she was trying to say, "I know we had a fight, but that didn't stop me from saving you." She thinks Spike didn't expect her to come because they weren't on good terms (though actually, he didn't expect her to come because he thought he wasn't worthy of her, since he gave in to Dru so easily). There's always so much misunderstanding between these two. :)

It can't be easy to capture Spike's feelings for Dru in later seasons, after he's fallen in love with Buffy. A writer has to evoke such a subtle mix of emotions. You did it perfectly. Very moving chapter, on many levels.

Dawn has the right of it in wondering why the vampire issue matters. I hope Buffy realizes that as she spends time with Spike. Though I don't want her to forgive him for being a vampire like Riley forgave her for being the Slayer. It's a part of who they are. The vampire had the strength to protect Dawn while Buffy was gone and the vampire was badly hurt by everyone he loved and thought she wouldn't bother to come for him.
I think Buffy was on her way there at the end of Love's Bitch, until the dream set her back. But maybe this'll be a chance for them to reconnect. :)

Buffy can be so frustrating sometimes. Lol. I realize she's been hurt before, and because of that she's extremely scared of trying the whole vampire thing again. I completely get that, but it doesn't make it any easier not to want to yell at her, lol. But you've just got to be patient with Buffy. Hopefully she'll come around. Hopefully, lol.
Yeah - that's one of the things I like about the character. Even though she's so strong physically, and can beat opponents that are much bigger than her, emotionally she is so fragile, and anyone has the power to hurt her. Thanks for the review!

Glad this trilogy is going on. The last story ended and I was so disappointed after how great Spike had been and the sweet friendship being developed. Buffy had to be self-involved and scared and hurt Spike immensely, though I see hope yet for them! I am glad Spike made the choice to kill Drusilla instead of Buffy, as it means a lot more. Good chapter, good story, good trilogy

Oh, poor Spike! though in all fairness ("I'll just track her down and torture her until she loves me again", or however that line went) I suspect that Spike probably doesn't mind in the same way that a real person would.

And it's absolutely in character behavior for Drusilla; nicely done. You've captured her sense of cruelty and twisted obsession beautifully.

But Yikes! Poor Spike!
I think Spike's probably got a higher tolerance for torture than humans (especially when it occasionally turns sexual) but I certainly wouldn't say he enjoys it... so yeah, poor Spike indeed! Thanks for the review!

Well I can add that to the list of things to discuss in therapy (oh I'm sure I've needed it for aages! :P).

Seriously though, although painful, that was, like everything you write, very well written. Very realistic thing for Dru to do and in character. You manage to balance the crazy, so to speak, very well- I've seen her written completely loopy, or too sane, it's hard to get her just right, but you have.

Now the question is- what's Buffy's idea? And more importantly will it work? Cannot wait.
Thanks for the review! So glad you like my Dru... she's a hard one to write. And good luck with the therapy. ;)

Well, maybe I'm just a sicko, but I found the Spike/Dru torture sort of hot and fitting. It's how I would expect them to throw down when they were feeling particularly deviant. I wasn't squicked by it at all =D No therapy for me, yay! You have a lovely eye for description, but I think your strongest suit is definately the dialogue. I can't say that I know what's going on exactly since I just popped in to read this part, but when I get a free moment, I'll tuck into Love's Bitch.

Dru really does know how to get what she wants. But come on Spike. Please hang on, Buffy is on her way.
Well... maybe not so much. If Dru wanted to win Spike back, she'd probably have been more successful if she took a more loving and less painful approach. Spike just wants to be loved, and "tortured til he likes me again" isn't the way to win him over.

Ah Dru learned from the master (Angelus) well. Now we see why Spike thought tying HER up and torturing her back into loving him would work....that's the way her mind works. Not happening with Spike though. He's not twisted no matter how his body may respond, his heart is Buffy's.

I really want to smack the crap out of the scoobies and Giles. Spike EARNED their help and support over and over and they are being asses. Willow and Tara came around but it shouldn't have taken them any time to agree to help at all! Giles and Xander are worthless gits, especially Giles after the dragon disaster...SPIKE pulled her back frmo that blunder and this is how Giles repays him?

Great update.

I think torturing Dru WOULD have worked... but I don't think Spike actually did it. (He definitely didn't in my series, it's never really mentioned in the show.) You do have a point... beyond easy or hard, though - it's not really Spike's choice. He doesn't have control over his heart, and he's lost it completely to Buffy. He couldn't leave her if he wanted to.

Yay Clem! I love him.

I had a feeling it would be Dru. Spike is in for trouble. You know...the human body's nervous system only knows when something feels good. Poor Spike couldn't control his reactions to Dru's actions. He could outright HATE her and still respond. Nerve endings know no love or recognition except pain or pleasure. Poor guy's going to feel weird though.

Good update. Jackass Scoobies were just like this on screen...totally dismissing Spike's help that summer (and before) and not giving a rat's hiney about him once Buffy was back.

Kathleen
Heh, I couldn't have season 6 without Clem. :)

And somehow Dawn has been put in the middle of them. Really hope that Spike can get Dawn to safety even with them being surrounded. Awesome chapter.
Thanks for the review! They are definitely stronger together, but it'll take some time for them to get there. And yeah, Dawn is almost like a child of divorced parents (again).

Great start to the new story. I'm going with everyone else in assuming that David is suspicious, but I can't wait to see how that will pan out. You're known for the evil red herrings, after all. :P
Well, yeah, he is suspicious. It's hard to introduce anyone new in Buffy stories without them being suspicious... everyone thought Jacob was evil, too. But I've noticed that, on the show, they rarely keep the identity of the "big bad" a secret - we always know who the season-long villain is, and what they want, even if the Scoobies don't. But I've definitely got a twist in mind, just to keep you on your toes. :)

Woo-hoo-- We have sequel! Wow, you're fast! No complaints here though; and I'm hooked already!

David is intriguing, though sadly probably evil. And the vamps in the bushes? Yikes! Way to start out with a bang!!

::buckles in for a nice long ride::
Yeah, this one's going to be intense for a while, then we'll settle down for a bit until the big finish (which will lead into the next story... lol). :) Thanks for the review!

Oh oh! Nice lead in to this part of the story. Intriguing new player on the block with the sorcerer David. Clem's warning was a bit of a chill...got a feeling things are going to get May hot in Sunnydale soon.

Kathleen
Heh... "May hot" - but it's only November. This story will feature Thanksgiving, and I plan to have the demon mystery wrapped up by Christmas, so the Hellmouth's on a bit of an accelerated pace. :) Maybe I'll have some new evil cooking for May.

well, going by the summary, i'm guessing its a good thing that dawn is with him, because when this fight goes badly, at least someone will know that spike's in trouble and be able to help him...i'm so glad you've started this fic so soon, i've been looking forward to reading it :) excellent start so far, love :) more soon please????
Hmm... wise guess you have there. Of course, maybe that's all part of the evil plan... Thanks for the review - glad you're enjoying it.

Yay!!!! It's the sequel!!! Yet another great chapter. I know people are hating Buffy right now, but I honestly can't help but feel sorry for both her and Spike. She kind of has a right to be worried about her dreams, when they do come true, then end to turn out badly. I can't wait to read more.
Yeah, I feel the same way - Buffy has a reason to be worried. But they tapped into something that night, and she can't ignore her feelings for Spike, so I don't think she'll be able to stay away for too long. :)

Uh-oh.....so from the summary, they take Spike, but how does Dawn get away? And what's the specific grudge against Spike?

What's with the magic guy, too? He seemed...suspicious.

And Buffy's still a moron.
Patience, my dear. All will be revealed... :) Thanks for the review!

Yay!:) I am so glad to see you have already posted a chapter for the sequel. I truly appreciate the dedication.
It looks like Buffy is going to be Denial!Buffy for a while now. *sigh* it looked like she was making progress a while back. I am really looking forward to see more your work, especially the way you describe Dawn/Spike/Buffy interactions... that is if Dawn and Spike aren't brutally killed soon..
Ha! No plans to brutally kill anyone, but imminent peril is always fun for a while. :) Plus, wouldn't be very Spuffy if Spike died in chapter 2... Thanks for the review!
