I would have been too scared to let anyone in the Initiative treat my wounds! I just would have left & let Riley get over himself.

     Ah, this Giles is infinately more sensible than the canon would allow.

     Poor Spike;  if he were human, his alcoholism would've left him brain-damaged long ago.

It's no wonder this story was nominated all over the place and has won awards.  Each chapter is better than the last. 

Poor Buffy. I am actually glad you haven't made her forgive him yet. That girl's got some stuff to work through first!

Great Update - as wrong as Spike was to have sex with Buffy, I can't help feeling sorry for him - what a "worst self-enemy" he can be.  Glad that Buffy finally spoke to Giles about everything - and was a pleasant surprise to see that Giles can see some good coming from Spike in all this.

Good chapter - everything fit together so beautifully - with the rain a grey wash over everything, running it all together.
I (think I) really understood Buffy's reaction when she met Spike.  It seems to me that she wasn't really rejecting him - more like she couldn't deal with him, on top of everything else from the day.  When you're that exhausted adn overwhelmed, even somebody you'd normally WANT to see isn't particularly a welcome sight on your doorstep.  Add having just had a fight with said someone to the mix and being told to go home seems pretty tame.
I hope DC was good & you have fun on vacation.
