So painfully beautiful.  You captured every emotion perfectly. Also, I may have to charge you for a replacement box of tissues, since I went through an entire box while reading this.
I'm sorry. *sends you internet tissue*

Thank you for reading.

Guh.  This chapter gutted me more than the actual episode.  Damn.  Every time I see this story update in my RSS feed, I can barely contain my squee!

Dear KnifeEdge,

I've been really enjoying this story since you started posting it. The premise is intriguing - Buffy sleeps with a dream vampire that can't be seen or heard? Your writing skills are on par with your imagination. I appreciate that you really capture Buffy's voice - that is to say her personality (both instinctively intelligent and kinda clueless) and the way she speaks - as written in the series.

I love the way this dream relationship is slowly unfolding, and that you trust your readers enough not to cut corners in the plot or to be too explicit about character motivations.

This last chapter is really beautifully written. It brought me to relive the surreal and the unspeakably painful moments that surround a parent's death. It was true to life.

Please keep up the amazing work. I can't wait to see how waking life and dream life will collide when this apocalypse plays out. Thank you for the frequent updates - I hope we can see another tonight! :)

* you wont get it if you don't ask!

Thank You!

Dear Nathalie,

Thank you for your comment. :) I'm so glad you're enjoying the story, and so happy that you feel like I've captured Buffy's voice.

I prefer to think that my readers are the most intelligent people on the planet... so I have to try to be smarter than them in order to tell a really, really good story. So far, I think my readers are still smarter than I am. But I try.

Because I'm a very picky self-editor, I'll probably be updating this with a chapter each day (provided my beta has the time to do her edits).

Thank you,

KE

Such a better version than the TV one.  I'm surprised how much better the story is without Dawn.  Thanks for posting chapters so regularly!

Well done, such a sad episode.  Really enjoying your story, checking often for updates.

I never understood why Joyce had to die in the show, why is it necessary in your opinion.
Because she didn't deserve to.

Sometimes the most important lessons we learn are the most painful. I'm not a subscriber to Joss's belief that characters should suffer all the time, and that all the really "good" characters should die and that relationships cannot be happy without being boring.

But I've read Season 5 fics where the authors chose to save Joyce, and I rarely ever see them work in a way I'd believe. There are several important things I think Buffy takes away from this--that we ALL take away from this--and I'll pick up on those things more and more as we go on.

But one of the most important one is this: Death doesn't always come as the big scary thing with fangs in the shadows. Sometimes it happens unexpectedly, and without reason. Death doesn't care if you deserve it or not, and not everyone can be saved.
