WOW!!! Just finished reading this third story in your "Origins" series, and it was fantastic. I only started reading the Buffy fan fictions a couple of months ago, and this is one of the BEST yet! I especially liked the parts where you were able to bring both Willow & Xander around slowly & easily, as many writers usually cause them to have a very sudden "about-face", which is just not real life. Also, it was refreshing to see Angel get dusted (FINALLY), and to have Travers not be a complete monster.
Really enjoyed every minute, and I hated for the stories to end! Thank you so much for sharing your talent with the rest of us!

them. You have no idea what ablessing they've been during this last week.
Thank You so much for your wonderful creativity,
Kaylie
Hey, just finnished reading the whole set... LOVED IT! Hope you one day decide to revisit this story line with an additional book.
Revelations was great. I loved the idea that Dawn was from Buffy and Spike. That always bothered me on the show. If they had only used DNA from Buffy Dawn would have been a clone and she obviously wasn't. The pain and death that Willow caused in my mind could never be forgiven. Because of her actions an innocent boy lost his life and another lost his childhood. Casey would never have been in Angelus' path without that spell and Connor wouldn't have grown up alone and scared until Spike found him. The core Scooby's all had deep emotional problems. Buffy ran when things got too intense. Xander refused to accept change. And Willow, when things didn't go her way she lashed out hurting others in the process. From the delusting spell, attempting to curse Oz and Veruca, the Will Be Done spell, pulling Buffy from heaven, all of it. (Plus the things she did in season 6) It wasn't about addiction, it was about power and control. And her belief that what she wanted was the right thing for everyone. Not to mention Angel getting his head ripped off was a bonus! Plus Anya and Giles make a much better couple.
Resolutions was the eye-opener Buffy needed about Riley. He was never the wholesome good ol' boy from Iowa he claimed to be. Oh he might have been once upon a time but not since he joined the Initiative. The power he got from the military mindset and the steroids went to his head. The fact that he could and did help in the capture and torture of sentient beings and then could walk past those cages without a twinge of guilt made me hate him from early on. So his beat down by Spike made me smile. Then you killed Kennedy! I would love this for that alone!
I always wondered why the gang couldn't understand that Spike changing sides no matter the reason was a cause to celebrate instead of view with mistrust. An evil being chose to fight on the side of good. That is a pretty big feather in the cap of the good guys. That you had Giles recognize it and acknowledge it and support it was wonderful.
So thank you for a wonderful story. I have to admit I reread it often.
I've commented here before, but I need to say it one more time.
Origins is, put simply, the most beautiful, thought provoking, awe inspiring, heartclenching, terrifying, perfectly planned fictional series that I have ever taken the time to sit down and read. If there was only some way we could get this published in paperback. It deserves to be out there for the public to read, to give an idea of where the series could, and in my mind should, have gone after Glory.
This version shows the Scoobies growing up and, inevitably, at least for the original core-members,growing apart; the issue of Dawn is confronted rather than being swept under the rug; Connor, though I actually have no issue with his real portrayal, is given such a better arch; Spike's efforts were not just thrown away - something that always irked me even before I was on the Spuffy bandwagon; Xander's bigotry and Willow's issues were brought to light; Tara got a much more substantial role, which she rightly deserved; Oz came back (I like Oz, sue me); Riley got the comeuppance he so richly deserved but was never dealt; the threat of Angelus was finished off for good - by Souless Spike no less, that's a definite plus; and most importantly of all, for me at least, we saw Buffy really sort of come into her own as a person and an adult - again, something that I don't think was ever covered, in the series or in the comic books.
I think I speak for every reader who has been smart enough to click on a link that says 'Origins' on the Bloodshedverse website, and subsequently fallen in love with your universe, when I say, thank you Nia for giving us, not only a story that tapers to our admittedly biased opinions, but for also continuing a story that was so terribly let down by its real creators...
You know who you are? You're Giles. You're the pseudo parent that the Buffyverse wasn't looking for that suddenly took it under its wing and somewhere along the line became so much more of a guiding star than Whedon or Mutant Enemy could ever hope to be.
I have never said that about a fanfiction piece before, and I never will again. But then, as far as I'm concerned, this isn't a fanfiction. This is merely that other path less travelled...and the Buffyverse is less for not going in that direction.
Peace,
Blue

Well, I guess I'm headed over to Elysian Fields to check out Destinies. I've thoroughly enjoyed all three books so far. Thanks for sharing your story!
i love the family buffy and spike love to know if you have more long stories about the kiddy growing up and such.
The characterizations were wonderful. There was a truth to each character that came through. What I mean is, while this isn't canon, it felt like it could have been, based on the way you developed the characters.
Again, thanks very much. I've spent many happy hours reading your stuff. You have a talent and it's wonderful that you choose to share it with others.
Again - just want to add a great big "Thank You" for keeping faith with your story and passion for writing. I know this had to be a huge and oftentimes a burden to keep going. I am so very happy that you did not abandon your wonderful series. I have enjoyed it so very much.
I know that all your readers appreciate that the work was not another WIP - never to find completion. Congratulations on your work.
