'The reaction of the others after hearing of Spike’s jump hadn’t been exactly as Buffy had suspected, but she was surprised by none of them.' It is a pleasure to see a Buffy who is maturing.
I like the story's pacing, too, building questions.
Fine and well crafted.
I like to think that if she had been given the summer, Buffy would have shown great steps in maturity. Thank you so much for reading and reviewing!

I HAVE read other fics where Spike jumped instead but so far yours is different I think,, I like it so far and I will probably finish the rest in one sitting, I really hope you update soon so i can have my FIX soon LOL

Great job so far!
Always great to have new readers! Hope you enjoy my little story.

I'm liking this pensive Buffy. Glad that she's finding comfort in his duster. Not at all surprised in the scoobies reaction, especially Xander. Waiting to see how all this is going to turn out and how he's going to come back, or maybe not. Good work, thanks for sharing.
Xander is surprisingly easy and difficult to write; he certainly has his stereotypical reactions, but sometimes he has the power to completely surprise...glad you're still liking the story.

Beautifully done, Buffy is barely beginning to realise her loss, but it's there!
Oh, it's definitely there. :) I'm glad you're enjoying the story; thanks for reading and reviewing!

This story is realy good so far. I cant wait to see where you take it. I think, as sad as it is for Spike's sacrifice to be ignored, that it is really in character for all of them. Most fics have him jump and he becomes a hero and Buffy suddenly figures out that she loves him and Im glad you didnt take that path. Update soon!
Well, it wouldn't be Spuffy if there wasn't love :P But it's a while in coming. As much as the romantic in me wants them to acknowledge what Spike has done, I think it is out of character for most, if not all, of the Scoobies. Thanks for reading!

I'm so enjoying this story. I always like to imagine what-ifs. I think Joss may have missed the boat. I quite like your version much better. Can't wait for an update. Have a great weekend and keep writing!
Joss didn't just miss the boat; he missed the freaking armada. ;) I'd like to think that Spike jumping would lead to a much more pleasant S6. One with much Spuffy and...Christmas and puppies. Okay, scratch that. Thanks for reading!

Can you please take Xander up and throw him off the tower? Great Story
Nah. Despite his demon prejudices, I like Xander. Although if he continues to act up in my story, I just might. :P Thanks for reading!

thanks for the very good read.
You're welcome!

I think Buffy was being a little hard on some of the scoobies. Tara at least seemed to feel genuine remorse over Spike's passing, but she is so quiet it's not like she'd say something out loud. And goodness knows Anya expressed her feeligns in the best way she knew how. I think she needs to focus on Dawn though, because she is the other person who would come closest to knowing what Spike's loss feels like.
Buffy is understandably overwhelmed by the whole situation; I think she'd be prone to acting rashly. And you're right; I think Tara would be genuinely remorseful if Spike died.

Oh, Xander. He just refuses to learn, the poor boy. Maybe I can do something about that later. :P Thanks for reading!

Just wanted you to know I'm liking this fic a lot. Yes, Spike's jump from the tower has been done before. But I don't recall one that has been quite this realistic -- of course his motives wouldn't be obvious to everyone. They weren't so far from the chains in Crush or the bot in Intervention. And I do think you have Dawn's reaction down well. When emotions get too big or complicated for her, she uses the whole anger/sulking thing. All that to say I'm looking forward to more!
I'm so glad you agree with me about Dawn; I knew, when writing it, that it would be a point of contention with quite a few readers. I stand by it, of course, and still do. I hope you keep up with this! :)

Certainly enjoying this fic, dearie! Though I have to admit to being all anxious to see if there will be any ressurections in the future, and whose idea it would be...
::grin:: I'll never tell. Just have to keep reading. :)

Really great so far, I'm looking forward to reading more.
Thank you!

the reactions you've written for each character are so realistic and true to their personalities...you're doing an excellent job with this fic, very much looking forward to more :)
I'm so glad; I'm always afraid that I will write things that don't ring true to the characters.

I've only just started reading this fic and it's already obvious that this will be a beautiful one. I can't wait to see more.
Thank you so much! I hope to update again within the next week; keep a lookout!

The jump-off point (no pun intended) may not have been a first, but I'm enjoying the story no less for it. You usually have to read post-Chosen stories to get this kind of perspective from Buffy on Spike. The circumstances here are similar, but the surrounding context is different, and the characters are different people now than they would be post-Chosen. There's plenty of room for you to carve your own tale here. I'm looking forward to it.
But it would have been a clever pun! I'm glad you're enjoying my story, and I hope to keep it as unique as you seem to think it will be. Thank you for reading and reviewing!

Fabulous chapter. Still loving this fic very much.

It's nice that Buffy finally realize that Spike has changed.
Great chapter, please update soon.
I hope to! Thanks for reading!

Time for a Dawn and Xander butt-kicking party. I'll bring the chips. I kinda expect it from Xander, but Dawn is just being a selfish brat.
I think Dawn's just going through a lot at the moment and doesn't know how to react to things. She is, after all, a teenager. Thank you for reading and reviewing!

I had a somewhat less than stellar day today, but finding an update for this story improved my day considerably. Fantastic chapter. You made us feel just how alone Buffy felt in her grief and in her acknowledgement of just how much Spike had changed - not even Dawn shared her trust in him. So sad to think that none of the others even acknowledged his sacrifice. Looking forward to more - soon. Uh, please? :)
I'm glad to know that my writing can bring some light into your day. :) I'm hoping to start chapter five sometime today as well as post it by Saturday. So keep an eye out!

great fic so far. i love xander, but always hated how he treated spike.
Poor blind biased Xander. Thanks for reading.

This story just keeps getting better and better. I believe that you got the Scoobies reactions perfectly. Poor Buffy doesn't seem to know what to think either. And Dawn...sigh....I personally think her anger is more directed at the fact that he died and 'left' her. Spike was never supposed to leave and it's easier to be angry than it is to mourn. Over all wonderful chapter and I look forward to each update.
I'm glad you're enjoying it. Thank you for reading and reviewing!

It's nice to see Buffy as the one who sees the "real" Spike for a change. Still loving this fic.
Stubborn and blind Buffy always infuriated me; she's so much smarter than that. Glad you're enjoying it. :)
