Every Night, I Save You by The Space Between
Chapter: (¯`•._.CH1- Dark Rivers of the Heart - I._.•´¯)

Interesting that both Spike and Dawn wondered why people weren't moving to help Buffy, as if the reality was too much that they couldn't comprehend it. i really liked Giles giving Buffy's body to Spike when he asked, and that no one commented on his carrying her away. It was interesting to see the combinations and that Giles got left taking care of Dawn, although Tara clearly wanted to. The trek with her body through the sewers back to the house was very well done.
Spike and Dawn are the two that know buffy best and love her the most.

Not to say the other Scoobs didn't... their grief will come out more as the story continues.

Thank you for the compliments ^^

Thank you so much Space, for bring this heart breaking scene to life. Since we never got to see Joss' version, I think he'd like it. Everyone in shock and dealing with her death. We all know, if given the chance, that is just what Spike would have done, what all of them would have done. So happy to know that you're putting this and "YHWLYH" together as a series. I'm not the only one who's missed it. Great chappie, thanks.
Thanks so much Verda. That means a lot :)

WOW! I can't say anything else because I'm speechless from the beautiful imagery of their grief.
Neat! Thank you :)

That was so moving. What a stunner of a story -- exceptionally well written too. Can't wait for more.
*grinning* Thank you! :) I blame it all on my beta ;)

Awesome story! Ihopeihopeihopeihope there will be no writer's block.....anxiously awaiting next chapter (s)!!! LOL
Thank you Lenee :) I hope no writer's block either but the way my muse is on fast forward with this story, I seriously think it will be seen through to the end...he's also gone back to my unfinished one and added to it quite a bit so all around I think my muse has decided to take pita on me and the grey-hairs he's given me over the past few months.

Nice chapter, Space. Surprised they didn't just leave Spike stranded.
Well shock causes people to do weird things. Sometimes you're just kinda caught up in yourself, unable to pay attention to most details like trying to remember you don't like someone ;) Unfortunately, the grief will lessen and there will be some Spike-bashing...but not for a bit yet. Remember, Spike and one or two others talked about it being a somewhat milder summer than usual and made it seem that every though it wasn't lollipops and rainbows, there was something of an unofficial truce. Otherwise I dont think Spike would have been so hurt with the way everyone treated him after Buffy was brought back.

Just wanted to drop a line and say that this is a good story. It does seem like the show left a lot of moments just sitting there, with no follow through or transition. It's really interesting to see what you think those lost moments were like. Plus, I love the Xander in your story. I'm also currently reading DoS's "Because He Needs Me," and needless to say, that Xander scares the crap out of me. Your Xander is a nice guy. The whole story is sad anyway, but when he just offered a boost to Giles, silently, well, that's when I started crying. Seeing the group bond together in your story makes the way they fell apart on the show all the more tragic. Good luck with the continuing story! Oh, and a Wes/Spike sandwich? Heck yeah!
LOL Thanks very much!! ^^ DoS is a wonderfully talented writer and I'm following that story hardcore too! ^^

As for the Spike /Wes sandwich... oh yeah!!! *lost in thought*

Very well done, displaying the shock and start of grief.
I kinda went by what I was told happened to me a few years ago when my Dad died. I was 8 months pregnant and he was sick for a bit but in another state and my Doc had to do all of these stress tests on me to make sure Id be ok with travelling and by the time I got the ok, I was calling my Dad and Mom to tell them I was coming and he just died some 20 minutes before I called. My sister said I just kinda dropped to the floor and was wailing but all I remember are weird things about not having gloves and it being cold and wondering where my shoes were.

This chapter was so sad, the closing scene nearly broke my heart. :( You did an amazing job of capturing the intense moments following Buffy's death. I especially liked getting the painful glimpses into Spike and Dawn's heads. Wonderful update.
Thank you very much! ^^ More Spike/Dawn coming up next chapter...lots of butting heads. :)

awww... you're gonna make me cry! I can literally feel Spike's pain... great update! Looking forward to the next!! :)
Thank you :) The next few chapters are gonna be along the same lines a bit. Lots of angst before everyone starts the healing process.

awwww that is so sad. It had me in tears!
Awww!! <3 Next chapter you're gonna wanna break out the tissues again. We get to deal with a head-strong Dawn butting heads with an equally stubborn Spike.
