Excellent update to this addictive story. I want the slaves saved of course (and a message of lasting love to Matthew's Jenny too), especially Spike.

I'd expect he's one who got the soul voluntarily...perhaps after delusions (say of hurting Buffy like in Seeing Red *G*). I'd imagine he's had his vocal chords burned away too as his tongue would be valuable. He's been there a while and who knows what visions he's had to make him hostile to Buffy. He may even have been made to think she gave him to these demons! You just know they've shifted to Buffy more than once to torture him.

Of course Buffy MAY have accidently given Spike to them if they captured him before he healed from her beating. Not easy to capture a Master Vampire with his reputation unless they took advantage of Buffy's abuse! If so she needs to realize it an feel guilty for putting him in that position (hey, she left him for the sunrise!).

I expect the female demon will be one of Durack's daughters....hope she's on the side of the rescue and not so much the killing of the slaves.

Looking forward to more of this story...it haunts! You may be the lady in waiting to the H/C queen, Dreamsofspike! Well done.
