Awww, how very cruel giving him the pink kitten shirt, and very tender a moment afterwards. Hehe. The whole thing was almost domestic, a side of the two that we didn't often get to see.

This is very good. :) I like this kind of gentle start to the possibility of something happening between the two of them. Of course I know that Willow is going to screw it up, but only with the best intentions (barf). Looking forward to more.

I always thought it was interesting how often the scoobies (and Buffy of course) seemed to hold Spike to a human standard in everything. Angelus was blown off as a "soulless vampire...who can expect anything else from him" but with Spike they expected and demanded he hold to a human code of morals. They brought up the "vampire" and "no soul" only when wanting to deny him the human privlidges that went with it. Nice Buffy noticing how "easy" it is to forget he's a vampire.
LOL on the sleep attire she provided and love how he put them on anyway. The sweet moment with a sleeping Dawn was a treasure too.
As for the thank you....that soooooo should have happened on the show!

It's kind of ironic that, because Spike actually DOES act more human than Angelus, he ends up getting punished for the ways he acts like a vampire, because he's raised the bar for himself. He tries to be human, but he's never human enough to satisfy the Scoobies, but he's not evil enough to get the free pass Angelus gets. The poor guy can't win.

awww, how very very sweet...i love this story, you do the emotions so well, and i love buffy seeing spike differently through his behavior with dawn...very well done, love :)
Thanks! It really bugs me that Buffy can go from "you treat me like a man" to "evil soulless thing" so quickly, and I think a lot of the name-calling came out of her own self-loathing. So maybe if Buffy's not so wrapped up in her post-resurrection depression, she can be more aware of who Spike really is.

Oooooh....Nice. Funny and sweet and with little zings of hotness. One of the hallmarks of your awesome writing is how real your characters seem...especially in their internal dialoge. I also loved Spike in the kitten tee shirt, and the moment of tenderness with Dawn, and the sexiness of the two of them after the rain. Is there any chance of convincing to up your rating in future chapters...say, to an R? Maybe? Please?
Rest assured, I will be bumping it up to an R eventually (might hit NC-17, not sure yet) but it's gonna take awhile to get there. I just can't make things easy for Spuffy, it's against my nature. In the meantime, hope you enjoy the subtle spice. :)
