Chapter: Connections

“As opposed to the less popular ‘hang out with a dead student’ thing,” replied the Slayer.

Xander looked up. “You know, if it were any other town, that would be funny.”

oh brother. droping the issue that Willow is manipulating people with magic is one thing, but leaving Dawn home alone raises Buffy to a whole 'nother level of stupidity.
And weren't there TWO demon attacks at her house?
I don't think Willow's to blame (this time) for the spell, and they did mention that the house was warded, so Buffy shouldn't have to worry about Dawn.

And yes, there were two demon attacks at her house, but only the second one was tied to their mystery bad guy.

I think I want to hit Buffy over the head right now. Blah blah blah NORMAL blah blahhdy blah feel my pain. GRRRR
Well, like I said in an earlier review, I think Buffy has a pretty good reason for wanting to be normal, and it's not going to be easy for her to let go of.

is this going to be a long story? it's going to take a lot of works to have Buffy falls for Spike, or never will.. maybe a trilogy or something later.. hopefully.. thanks!
Is it gonna be long? Oh, goodness gracious, yes! This particular story is almost finished, but I've got it plotted to be a 6-story series. (Don't worry, I won't wait that long for Buffy and Spike to get together, lol.) There will be some back and forthing on the I like you/I hate you/I want you but we can never be together, but they won't be together for good until after the first major arc (the demon summoner) is resolved.

Always thrilled to see you've updated!

Great chapter. Nice transition here; and good look at the scoobies at work. Really enjoying watching the plot unfold!

Poor Buffy. I'd feel pretty awkward around Spike for a while, too!
Thanks for the review! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Nice friendship moments there.
Thank you! Glad you liked it.

very good chapter, thank you. nice to see buffy reach the “I don’t know” stage.
Thanks! It's about time, don't you think?

Yes and being an astronaut is so very normal too, Buffy *G*.

I can sort of see her point but still her view of "normal" is so off the mark not to mention impossible for her ever.

Excellent update. Glad she found out Spike really WAS trying to stop the unwanted feelings.

Haha - I think the comparison was more about things you want but can't have... ;)

The thing about Buffy is that she's always been the reluctant hero, to some extent. I think that's part of her resistance - you know how being forced to do something, or given an ultimatum, almost always makes you want to do the opposite? All of her friends made the choice to fight evil with her - Buffy was chosen. She just wanted to be a cheerleader and homecoming queen.

So, until she accepts being the Slayer as part of who she is, and not something that was forced on her, I don't think she's ever going to stop wanting to be normal.

Willow's being a great BFF, so supportive and all. So happy she broke it off with Jacob, of course. It will be interesting to see who's behind all this mayhem against Buffy. Hey, she's at least looking at Spike as something more. Great work, thanks. Guess it's a good thing he didn't complete that spell after all.
I thought the Jacob dumpage would be popular, lol. I won't be giving out many answers on the mayhem - it's going to be sort of like the season-long Big Bad, and will come to a conclusion in (probably) the fourth story in the series. Gotta keep you reading, right? ;)

I'm glad Buffy sort of admittet what had happened with Spike to Willow, and that she was understanding.
I think it's hard for Buffy to talk about, but it's good that she's confiding in Willow, at least.

Yeah.. Willow the Astronaut =PPP/ Watch out, Gagarin!
This is actually my secret way of setting up a Firefly crossover - Willow in Space. ;)

I love this fic! You've got such a great handle on Buffy's frustration and quagmire of emotions; Willow's "helpful" magics; Tara's compassion; Xander's annoying bias; Anya's thoughtless directive; Dawn's perkiness; and a fabulous handle on Spike's passionate emotions. There's enough plot twists and action to keep us interested in more than just the relationship follies. Do love the Spuffy though, and you've got us angsting pretty hard. Excellent work. Can't wait to see your updates.
Thanks for the lovely review! I'm glad you like the story. I try to make it feel like you're reading the show, so I appreciate your comments. :)

Good for Willow, owning up like that.
She's not all bad. :)

Oh. Plot. I'd almost forgotten about that. I like plot. It means oppurtunities for Spike to be the hero. The Buffy-pity is a little thick in this chapter. I sorta wanna smack the girl, not 'cause I don't sympathize but, geeze, melodramatic much? But Willow/Buffy bonding, yay! I always thought that there should have been more of that in season six. Especially since they were determined to draw that crazy addiction parallel between them.
Yep, plot. It's that thing that usually attacks in bunny form... I'm a big fan. :)

I'm glad that in your fic, you've explored Buffy and Willow's friendship. Tara was cool as a replacement friend for Buffy, but I didn't like how the show never explored the problems with Buffy and Willow's friendship. Things weren't the same between them after Willow brought Buffy back, and the show never confronted those issues. I like how you've faced the problems, and allowed them to move on as best as could be expected. Thank you for this chapter :) .
I always liked the Buffy/Willow friendship - they had some really great, honest moments in the early seasons, but you're right, they brought up a TON of issues from season 4 onward that never got addressed. Thanks for the review!

Thanks, Willow!

And why am I thinking that something really bad will go after Dawn?
Well, you're not the only one. Guess we'll have to see...

I have a bad feeling about Dawn being left by herself....

So are we going to get more Spuffy soon, more please.
There might be some Spuffy soon. ;)

05/01/2007 01:58 am
It's nice to see a less touchy, more understanding Willow. And, now that she's admitted that Spike hadn't lied about what the spell was supposed to do...
Yep, Willow's there to vouch for Spike - although I don't think Buffy ever really doubted him. I think she was mostly just freaked out about the consequences. Thanks for the review!

I really, really loved this chapter. Readers can get so mad at Buffy for not seeing how perfect Spike is for her, but it would actually be pretty bizarre if she just waltzed off into the sunset with him. You've given us one of the reasons why: she's dreamed of a "normal" life for so long, and she has to mourn the loss of that dream as much as she had to mourn the loss of heaven. Lovely work!
It would be pretty bizarre... and I'm always suspicious of fics where it just works out happily ever after with no obstacles. Suffice to say, my Spuffy will have *plenty* of obstacles. :) Thanks for the review!

yay cute Budffy Willow moment .
Thanks, glad you liked it.

oh i hope she's right about dawn, but something tells me she's not *sigh* great chapter, great job of expressing where buffy's at emotionally right now...excellent work, and i'm looking forward to the next chappie, love ;)
Thank you, dear! The major Buffy introspective seemed necessary, in light of all the Buffy hate. :) Glad you enjoyed it.
