ok, I love Buffy's story. the uncertainty that she wanted a child at all, wrapped up in the expectations that people have on her and...yeah. love it. loovvvvve it.

I also love that kids still would have been a dealbreaker for Spike. I have...well it's hard to explain. I have a kink for...not *love* that is conditional, but *relationships* taht are conditional. you can love someone a lot and there will still be certain things that are dealbreakers, and I love seeing that in fic. you kept Spike as Spike here. kudos
So glad you like it - and believe it! I can see Buffy going along with what others expect of her, despite her misgivings. And Spike? Yeah. He loves Buffy, but he's not her bitch.

At least in this fic ;)

Spike thinks: Whatever I wanted from her is moot...it looks as if she’s got nothing left to give.

He leaves so quickly, Buffy's thoughts are unknown.

Wow! I'm dying here. I started this series thinking that the third and final installment was complete-and have just discovered the truth. Can't wait to see how you end this-it's beautiful.
So sorry to disappoint you! But glad that you've enjoyed so far. And I plan to update pretty regularly, so you should see another chapter tomorrow.

Wow, I loved that chapter so much that I read it twice. He didn't really want to go to that dinner party anyway. You'd love Minus Zero. It's the type of place that you'd expect to trip across Spike and I seem to remember trading a couple of my best Jefferson Airplane Albums there. The mention brought back a lot of great memories. How did you come across the shop? Plus, please give us another chapter soon.
Thank you - you've made my day!

I found Minus Zero through plain old web research, but since I love vinyl and have haunted many a record shop, I felt like I wasn't *completely* pulling it out of thin air. But I'm so, so glad to know that you think it is the kind of place you'd find Spike.

Another chapter is in the works, too.

Not the same Pam S..I wish.
I'd be writing Spuffy from daylight to dawn.

Thanks for the hints.

Guess I'm just a happily ever after girl. Angst is good 'cause it can get too sugary 'n boring and I do prefer a story with a little angst and a good amount of plot.. and of course a dose of NC17.

Waiting for the final chapters.

This story.... You make me laugh, you make me cry. You leave me wanting more. Thank you.
Thanks, Ace! I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

Interesting to see Spike's POV of all this...I feel for Buffy.

Okay first of all, what a reunion. And she was honest and open with what she has gone through and her feelings. I can't even put myself in her shoes. I can't wait to find out what you have next in store for the couple.
Thanks, Letitia! Glad you bought the Buffy baby woes. I worry that I'm putting it on with a trowel, but it's not the kind of thing I thought I could toss out there and then just ignore, either.

Oh yuck.. just reread the intro.. yes doing it again..

Warning.. character death. Spike.. maybe she has to become that slayer..

Well - it isn't what you think. I'll say this - there's no murder or violent death. The final chapter of the story closes many, many years in the future. I never intended to write a sequel to the original story, mostly because I couldn't see a happy ending. But the more I thought about it, I could see an ending that left both characters content, for a time, with an imperfect love. Which, I think, is what most of us experience as adults.

That pretty much tips my hand. ;)

Incidentally, I know a real, live published writer named Pam S. - the odds of you being her are terribly slim, but I get a little jolt every time I see your name pop up in my inbox.

Oh, this Spike.. has that I am still a vampire edge.. no kids to babysit.
Spike..not too open about the.. gotta ask me in first problem. She is still his girl, but I sense something different. Maybe it is just lust but not love. Something he feels for her is different than "normal" but still a coldness. Maybe the next chapter will let me know if I am right. And he didn't spend the night.

Thanks for the very quick update. Loved it.. but perplexed.

There is a coldness in his love for her - and that's not really what we see in canon, is it? But I think he's more aloof in this 'verse - there wasn't any Drusilla, or at least not for a century - so he's not sure how to go about being in love.

If you're confused, imagine how Buffy is feeling right now. ;)

This story is just as you said it would be: not happy, kinda angsty, but just exactly what I could picture happening. I don't know how many chapters you're planning, but if it's the standard 5, then I have to say that I could easily see this wrapping up nicely, either with both of them actually sticking around, or with one or the other skulking off again. OR, I could see this installment going on for several more chapters. And each option would leave me perfectly satisfied!
Oh, I tried to stuff this into 4 or 5 chapters, then gave up. It looks like it will be 10 total, so please stick around!

Interesting, that your Spike still has conditions toward her. This is very much his-own-vampire Spike. Dooes he want to possess her, or does he actually have feelings? Does he even know?

Poor Buffy....

I have a feeling the Harris' won't be too upset over orgasm time...otherwise pot/kettle, much?
I think *this* Spike can't imagine a happy ending for himself - and so his feelings do have him pretty uncertain. (So, yeah, that last thing you said. He doesn't even know.)

And oh, Harris is gonna be plenty curious come morning ...

Nice reunion sex. Realistic attitude from Spike AND Buffy...she wasn't the one hot to be a mommy after all. Naturally she will feel something is wrong with her by her reaction to losing Hugo but you feel what you feel. Glad she's with Spike now because she and Owen were doomed from the get go.

Lovely update.

Thanks, Kathleen! You know, I rarely buy Buffy as the maternal type, Slayer or not. And so, yeah, she and Owen? Definite mismatch.

Thanks for reading!
