Was that really a dream? Hmm....  Lots of things to ponder.

“You want me to kill him?” he asked seriously.  LOL!  Yes, please, Spike!

And shame on you for getting my hopes up with that dream!  LOL!  Actually, I like that it was a dream.

Hmm..."She soon shook it off though, dismissing it as just a dream..."  Dismissing it as a dream?  Perhaps there's more to it, or am I reading too much into it?

Lovely chapter.  Looking forward to more.
Perhaps there is more to it.... :-) But you'll have to wait and see. Thanks for reading and I'm glad you liked.

Oh the subconscious is a wonderful thing!  Something tells me that while she'll continue trying to live in the land of denial her mind will continue to let her know there's a better option out there.  Loved that Spike told her mom so she could get some extra nurturance without having to explain, and the offer to kill Angel was priceless if only for the fact that it got her to laugh
Thank you :-) I think offering to kill Angel is definitely something Spike would do. Especially this Spike. Thanks for reading!

Hum the subconscious is busy at work solving all her emotional ills I see...makes perfect sense but not with Spike as a substitute merely the real thing.

I always thought that one reason Buffy held on so long to the "prefect love" she had felt for Angel was because it HAD to be that perfect love for her to live with all that had happened because she couldn't kill him..  Had she not hesitated to kill him Miss Calendar wouldn't have died and all those nameless people he fed on would have lived.  To live with herself and her inaction (instead of just giving herself the deserved break that she was in shock and was young) it had to have been earth shattering love she had felt to have been worth the loss.

Your Buffy was really pretty much over her illusion of love for Angel but now that he is leaving is starting to fall into the same trap...making more of it than it was.  It was first, young love built on a false view of the other...that is all.

Glad her subconscious is already on board with teaching her the truth.  Between that and what her eyes can see and heart feel in her conscious time she should heal unlike canon Buffy.

Excellent.

Once again, a lovely long review. You're the best! :-)

I think Buffy's definitely going to realise more and more that Angel was not as great, that their love was not as great as they thought. It may take time - understandably - but she'll get there. With Spike's help, of course. :-) And maybe a little nudge from her subconscious. But obviously first love is something special and it takes time getting over that...

Anyway, thanks for reading and I'm glad you're enjoying.

Buffy - living in that land of denial.  Interesting dream and I like the way the introduction of soulful Spike changes things so dramatically.

It does put a whole new spin on things - and especially Angel and his behaviour. Thanks for reading.
