Poor Spike really did have his insecurities thanks to Cecily and Dru (and later canon Buffy)....he knew women liked his body but never really got that HE was of value. Nice that Buffy sees that and is trying to reassure him in this story
They are playing with fire here.....I agree that he'd still love Buffy and try to behave but the soul does make it easier for him to know how.

Great update, and I love how comfortable and content Spike and Buffy can be so it isn't just fiery passion and lust that will fade. At the same time, Spike always seemed so live in the moment to me, seeking happiness and joy because he knew they wouldn't really last and fighting for them, so I can't see him as anything like Angel, thinking he should make himself stay unhappy because of duty to the curse.
I really like this entire story, not just the relationships but the differences and similarity to canon and this version of Spike and the plot. I can't help wondering if Spike will lose his soul or try to find a way to anchor his soul, but whatever path it takes I really look forward to how you will continue this fic. Thanks so much for writing it!
