Several great lines in this chappie - "You
re meant to slay them not beat them, not beat 'em to a bloody pulp" "Oh, like you've never beaten someone up for the hell of it".
Thanks! Glad you liked them. :)

I was a little uncertain, how this would turn out, but I'm very interested now and I will keep reading. Good work!
Thanks! Glad you're giving it a try.

Excellent - your treatment of Buffy's emotional trauma and how she is manifesting it reads very real - another woman might be so traumatized that she would be unable to continue with her everyday life - but because she is The Slayer I think it would give her that needed strength.  Of course, who knows what a woman feels like unless this happens to you or someone you are close with or work in a field that tries to help these victims.

Appreciate the update -
Thanks! I think it's probably different for every woman, but Buffy is certainly a unique situation. Hard to say whether being the Slayer will make it easier to cope, or whether that will bring too much additional shame, because it's expected that she can defend herself against something like this.

Heh, Spike's not quite there yet - still walking the line on being evil...

You are doing a fantastic job with the story. This chapter brought tears to my eyes.

Buffy’s feelings are very realistic. As a slayer, she is not accustomed to being powerless. That combined with not knowing who did this to her puts her in a vulnerable state. When she feels that way, she goes into denial and suppresses her emotions, which usually explode in a violent way.

I also like Spike’s awkwardness in dealing with Buffy.

Aww, thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying it. I think Buffy's denial will definitely have repercussions...

Buffy, Buffy, Buffy... {shakes head sadly} Queen of denial... 'If I don't tell people, it didn't happen...'
She's gotta explode soon... and of course Spike will be there to pick up the pieces...
Buffy really seems to function by convincing herself of something, regardless of what the reality is. The problem arises when reality crashes in and she can't maintain the self-deception.

You are taking on a frighteningly real subject of date rape and handling the aftermath with care, concern and striking emotional upheaval.  I can't even begin to imagine the victimization and helplessness.  Buffy, however strong physically, will have to work her way through this process of recovery of her sense of self and security.

Interesting in the latter part of the fic that Spike is the one to limit her retribution on the vampire.  He shows concern, but he's not handling her with kid gloves.  He cares, but he doesn't attempt to comfort.  Will she find this to be helpful to not be coddled in the aftermath?

I think that you've got the makings of a great fic in progress here.  Looking forward to your updates.

Thank you so much for the thoughtful review! I'm glad that you're enjoying it, and that you appreciate the way it's being handled.

I think Spike is in a unique position here - he cares, but not to the point of smothering her, and she has some respect for him, but doesn't feel the need to keep up appearances the way she needs to reassure her friends that she's okay. Hopefully, he'll be good for her.

I hope Spike finds the nerve to help Buffy - she's in dire need!

Yes, she is! Thanks for the review.

really like this so far, llike how you didn't let spike give her comfort so fast.
Thanks! Since it's season 4, it's hard to see Spike warming up to Buffy too easily, even if he does sympathize with her situation.
