Time's Fool by MsJane Curious 08/01/2013 10:29 pm Chapter 30: Time Untouched Love this story! Will we get an update soon? An update is well overdue, I know. This won't be left a WIP, don't worry. Thanks for reading and reviewing. Stan 05/05/2013 09:55 pm Chapter 30: Time Untouched This is fabouluuuuus! I log in every say to see if there has been an update! Wow. Thanks! I can tell you now that I'm still working on the next chapter, so no need to check before Friday. Thanks for reading and reviewing! Dawn 04/17/2013 08:26 pm Chapter 30: Time Untouched I love this story! Silly Spike, being so insecure, but that is what I love about him! And Buffy being so Buffy, so unreadable.Again, this is a story that sticks with me, amazing characters & plot. I reread this a few times this week, and I think I have an idea about this line, can't wait to see if I am on the right track.... "She’d seen that face before – just for a moment, and almost a lifetime ago. It made the world stopped spinning on its axis then, as it did now. Thanks, Dawn! I'm so pleased that you appreciate the plot and characterizations since that is where the work really comes in - not in the Spuffy. I also love that you're considering that line you've quoted, because therein lies the answer to what she sees. ;-) Thanks for reviewing! Asuras 04/17/2013 06:42 pm Chapter 30: Time Untouched
Like your OC's? Love them! Yay! Thanks Asuras. :-) SeaPea 04/16/2013 03:53 am Chapter 30: Time Untouched Great chapter! Spike feeling guilty, and not talking to Buffy about it (at least not yet). Gina is a hoot. Your original characters are a lot of fun. Yay! So, so glad you like my OCs. I hope the story makes us all a bit more sympathetic and affectionate towards the junior Slayers. Thanks for reviewing. :-) Jane 04/15/2013 08:52 pm Chapter 30: Time Untouched Absolutely stupendous, so, so happy, everyone got out more or less safe and sound. You've created such a great team, I'd hate to lose anyone. I'm hoping that now catastrophe has been averted we'll get some more Spuffy time. Spike seems ready to burst with guilt, all his insecurities are resurfacing, I get the feeling he wants to bolt. Buffy needs to show him how much she's grown up in the past 40 years. Still on tenterhooks, brilliant.........well worth waiting for. Thanks Jane! I'm pretty excited about this next chapter. I'm looking to make myself swoon with this one. ;-) Sooooo happy to see this winding down. Wait! That didn't come out right. LOL So happy to see more of it! That's what I meant to say! Assuming we have a bit more to go in which Buffy and Spike will have a conversation about what he did? I admit to being a little confused about his being so upset about using her already-removed blood, and I'm glad to see Buffy seems to be okay with it. It was the logical thing to do. It was certainly the logical thing to do, but Spike has just got her back - miraculously - after 40 years and out of Iduna, and she's gorgeous and young and practically his and I think he's terrified of mucking it all up by looking like the greedy, self-interested 'thing' she once called him. But this is our world now, SMS, not Joss', so you know all will be right in it. ;-) Great chapter! I feel like we're getting to a resolution, and it seems like it's going to be happier than Spike expects. Of course, you've fooled me before, which I should be used to from a story called "Time's Fool".
I am very curious to know what exactly has happened to Spike that's so visible but inexplicable to people. Whatever will Angel say? Heh. Thanks, Rebcake. Dawn 02/27/2013 03:28 pm Chapter 29: Time Heals All Wounds Wow...just wow. This story is just amazing. I think I've read and reread chapters 23 & 24 like 50 time already, lol. Love the reunion, so much feeling, emotion. Can't wait to see what changes her blood has done to Spike! So unbelievably happy this story has come back! Thank You!!! I find myself going thru phases where I don't read anything in the Spuffyverse for months at a time, and now after reading this, I am right back to being addcited, finding new stories and revisting old favorites! What kind and generous words. Thank you! It is so nice to hear that you found your way back to this story and are still enjoying it (and Spuffy in general). I'm working on the next chapter now, so hopefully you won't have to wait too long. Thanks again! Asuras 02/06/2013 06:08 am Chapter 29: Time Heals All Wounds So happy to see this story will not die out! Thank you for returning to it so we can enjoy the very, very good stuff it's made of : ) Thanks. It's good to be back! :-) Mkay 02/05/2013 10:15 pm Chapter 29: Time Heals All Wounds Loving this story so far! It's very unique, which is sometimes hard to find in spuffy fics. Can't wait for the next chapter : ) Thanks! :-) This chapter is incredible. Well, it's credible enough, just mind-blowing and wonderful. I am so happy to have it back at all, but then you go and make it even tenser, tauter, and more thought-provoking than it already was. There was a recent discussion of morality in BtVS, and how doing evil in the hopes of serving the greater good nearly always results in evil outcomes. These labcoats should have paid attention. That said, I'm very nervous to find out just what changes Spike has wrought on himself. !!! Thanks for bringing us more of this wonderful story. So I literally did a Snoopy Dance when I read your review. Thanks so very much for your feedback. It's so nice to know when people are enjoying the ride! Figners crossed, there'll be more soon... SeaPea 02/03/2013 05:01 am Chapter 29: Time Heals All Wounds Wow, what a great update! I was riveted! Now I want more. Thanks. More is on hte way. ;-) sayra 02/02/2013 07:45 pm Chapter 29: Time Heals All Wounds OMG you updated! I'm so glad you're continuing this story. Berger and Shaggy got what they deserved. Can't wait to find out what effect Buffys' blood had on Spike. Yeah, I missed this story. Thanks for still reading. :-) Oh I'm so happy to see you're still working on this! Wonderful, scary update. Buffy's blood and Spike - sounds like that may have been a realllllly interesting combination. I hope there's another chapter coming soon. :) Yeah, my writing hiatus was shockingly long. I hope to be MUCH quicker with the next chapter. Thanks for coming back to the story SMS. :-) Jane 02/02/2013 03:01 pm Chapter 29: Time Heals All Wounds I know I've already reviewed at Elysian Fields, but I just couldn't help saying yeeee again. I can't believe how much detail you get into each chapter the actions non stop, It's really nerve racking stuff. I'd wondered how they'd manage to infiltrate the facility. Now I know and it was perfect. Had no difficulty picturing them taking out the guards. Eight in total I think, just three to go, does the snoopy dance. Can't say I'm sad at Shaggy or Berger's demise, Buffy would never be safe while those two lived. They thought they were above, well everything. They were closer to being sociopaths than humanitarians. and if they'd gotten their way. I bet only a select group of humanity would have felt the benefits. I hope Spike doesn't let himself get to bogged down with guilt. I for one am glad that they didn't leave any more samples for the bad guys. And frankly I want Spike well and able to defend himself and the other Slayers. They've lost too many of their number already. Absolutely brilliant update, there's so much more stuff in this chapter that I haven't even touched on. Gonna take a while to digest. Love it, love it, love it. Aw, thanks Jane! I'm so happy you appreciate the the detail. :-) No matter if the doc was right or not the way she went about it was completely wrong. You don't kidnap and experiment on people. Maybe if she had asked and explained Buffy might have willingly submitted to the tests. But now? Now she should go to jail for a very long time. I wonder what the blood and plasma did to Spike? It sounds like something odd happened to him. It's not like he hasn't had slayer blood before so there is something different about Buffy's. The docs theory about vamp's is interesting but Buffy only took a few drops from Drac and he didn't drain her first so what happened? Oh ginar, you missed it! Berger is dead. She got shot accidentaly by the guard, so no jail for her. As for Buffy's blood, there is definitely something different about it, as she is no ordinary Slayer being immortal. As for Berger's theory, it is just that: a scientist's attempts to arrogantly explain Buffy's world. It's an interesting theory and more of an explanation of vampire physiology than magic ever offered, but I don't comment on its truth or not. Thanks for coming back to the story and for sharing your thoughts. :-) Devon 01/17/2013 11:00 pm Chapter 28: Overtime This is amazing! My first Spuffy fic in years and I'm so glad it's such a great one.
Linked from buffyverse top 5.... Asuras 10/23/2012 04:40 pm Chapter 28: Overtime The planned review at EF refuses to post so the one below will have to do :/ In Giles-speak, it will do very well indeed! Ta. Asuras 10/23/2012 04:21 pm Chapter 28: Overtime I came across this fic yesterday. Needless to say, today I’m short on sleep : P Despite the worrying 5+ month hiatus, I do so hope you still mean to finish this very solid story. Compliments for the depth of your characters, convincingly built up to gain form beyond a mere 2D identification of “the Tough Slayer”, “the Shy Slayer”, “the Boring Normal Boyfriend” etc. Your characters sound true, as do the original characters (the way Clem tried to swap petrol for eggs for instance. Sounding all supportive and understanding, yet in his agreeable way trying to dissuade Spike from his original plan). Thank you for giving Buffy and Spike some needed time to grow together again. I’ve never understood after-series-fics in which they experience the initial shock of meeting again, directly followed by a happy 36-hour disappearance into the bedroom... Even if in the end they grew to realise they (still) loved the other, that level of intimacy does not fit the tentative (platonic even) relationship of season 7, let alone the gap of the months / year(s) since. It’s good to see Buffy true to form, never the damsel in distress to be rescued. Well... she gets distressed a lot, and often could do with a rescue I suppose... : ) But she’s always one to take action solving her own problems even if the rescue-team does arrive to lend a hand... : ) Also very pleased to see a Spike with a little ‘oomph’ to him again, yay! In short: thank you for a well-written story with a good plot and a nicely chosen ‘Big –but-we’re-serving-the-greater-good- Bad’. I hope you will find the time and / or drive to continue this story, I would very much like to see how it proceeds and ends. MsJane said: “Anyway, I'm in this gig for one reason only: to entertain the sh*t out of Buffy fans.”I for one was entertained : ) (Double-posting this review both EF and BSV just to be thorough : P) Dear Asuras, I could write a lengthy note in appreciation of your taking the time to review this story so many months after the last update, but instead I'll simply let you know that I've returned to the story this week thanks to your review. I really did miss those crazy two (and my OC's). Let's see if we can't finish this thing. Thank you. Emma 06/06/2012 10:04 am Chapter 28: Overtime I adore this story, and check in every day to see if there has been an update. Can´t wait to see how it ends! Kirsten 05/21/2012 06:00 pm Chapter 28: Overtime Love the little picture of the guy with the mace at the end of the chapter, lol! I was so excited to see this story had gotten updated. As always, it was totally worth the wait! Yeah, I wasn't sure what the reader reaction would be to that cartoon at the end, but I just thought that picture was hilarious - especially the idea that it was supposed to be Spike. Glad you enjoyed the return of the story, and thanks for reviewing! :-) So happy to see another update to this! And I hope Spike gets a chance to drink Shaggy dry at some point! Nice job of keeping the the suspense and the anxiety going in this chapter. Angry, unchained Buffy is always a plus! Thanks SMS! I like my Slayers like I like my vampires, badass. Buffy was never going stay on her back for too long. ;-) Jane 05/19/2012 11:58 am Chapter 28: Overtime
I can't express how happy I am to see an update, doing my own version of the Snoopy dance. Hey Jane! It's been a while. I wasn't sure if anyone would come back to this story, so I'm thrilled that you did and are still enjoying it. Yeah, Smug is Shaggy's middle name. We'll see how long he stays that way though. The reader response to the original slayers has just been fabulous - especially because I was never a fan of the Potentials and only begrudgingly accepted the post-Season 7 Slayer-filled world when I got into the comics. I've tried to create Slayers that would make me like this new reality. Thanks so much for continuing to share your thoughts on the story with me. Next chapter should be up in much less time than this one. :-) :-) Rescue and escape plans in motion and to meet in the middle? Hopefully? I never really liked scientists before and now I hate them. "Rescue and escape plans in motion and to meet in the middle?" - We shall see... Glad to see you're still reading! Thanks. :-) Well, that was totally awesome! I am always worried when either Buffy or Spike are badly injured or imprisoned that it will take a long time until they've escaped or healed enough to have their own agency again. You aren't making us or them suffer, though, and I appreciate the extra long chapter that seems to be putting everything on track for the bad guys to get their comeuppance. (However, like Spike, I am a little concerned that the plan is going too well.) I loved sassy Buffy, giving them hell any way she can, never letting up. Super-focused Spike, pulling everything from his bag of tricks to get the job done, was scarily great. It's wonderful that the Slayers are seeing the full package, even more than Buffy has in years. Should be interesting. I was also pleased to get a bit of Max and Sonny's story, even if just a one-sided slice. Max was terrific, a real hero. I have got to wonder if he is going to lose it when he finds out Spike is a vampire, never mind Buffy's beau. Magic 8 Ball says: definitely. You've given us great dialogue, exciting action, dreadful villains, lots of lovely character moments and more. Your usual, in other words. You're too good to us. Ooh, I'm so glad you enjoyed it, Rebcake! I was worried about this chapter becuase I'm so out of practice. I can't believe it's been three months since I last posted. Yikes. Thank you so much for your thoughtful and far too generous review. I absolutely love reading about what resonates for you guys. I'm delightfully surprised that you liked Max, and I'm particularly happy that you enjoyed the dialogue. That's my favourite element to write, you know. Again, thanks so much for the encouragement. Fingers crossed that the next chapter will be ready soon-ish. :-) I've been reading B/S fics for years, and am somewhat startled to realize that this one has left my all-time favorite in its dust. Thank you for all your efforts! Wow. Thank you so much for appreciating it, and for telling me! I hope it continues to please. :-) Oh my. This is really scary stuff - nothing worse than people who think their cause is just. Poor Buffy - I'm hoping she's going to get a chance for revenge at some point, but worried about what she's going to go through in the meantime. And I can't believe I almost missed this update! Gah! There's that word again: "scary". I'm continuously surprised by people's reactions! Revenge may be tricky, seeing as this is a government-health-commercial type oranization run by well-meaning humans. If memoriy serves, I don't think Buffy even killed any of the Initiative guys in Season 4. The demons did that. But then there was Season 8... Thanks for still reading and reviewing SMS. :-) Jane 02/25/2012 02:44 pm Chapter 27: No Time for Pleasantries I was really torn when I saw you'd updated, all these conflicting emotions warring within me. Hope, fear, anxiety, it's taken me hours to summon the courage to sit down and read. Obviously I'm really glad I did, this chapters answered a lot of questions. We finally know who the kidnappers are, they sound like global dynamic. We now know who Shaggy is, he's a bit of a smarmy git isn't he, and it looks as though Willow's in the clear. I'm taking comfort from their apparent ignorance of the supernatural world and their nauseating smugness. They seem well prepared, but they didn't plan for Spike, he's Buffy's ace in the hole. It was heartening to see all the Slayer's rally to Buffy's cause, and adding Max to the mix will be interesting. He's a nice guy, so hopefully seeing those two together will give him some closure. I can't wait for your view of the immortality question. Did something physically alter within Buffy to cause it, or is it something to do with the spell. I keep remembering the urn breaking and Osiri's wrath. I was surprised in the show that there weren't any repercussions from that. I know it's useless to speculate, I never know what will happen next, I just trust that we're going in the right direction. As always brilliantly written, had to keep getting up after reading a few lines to pace because of the tension. I wasn't too affected by Dr Berger's claims to be acting for the greater good. I'm all into alleviating the suffering of others, but experience leads me to think that if they did develop anything useful from their experiments, it would only benefit the rich and the powerful. The road to hell is paved with good intentions, or as Buffy would say, you can't do good, by doing evil. Loved it, I can breathe again, just for a bit. Oh Jane! You know, I thought I would have lost you since you were happy with the story ending with the reunion. Thanks for continuing with it! I'm surprised that the chapter has been so tense for readers - I guess, because I know what's going to happen. :-) The point of this story is to entertain diehard Joss, Buffy and Spuffy fans, so rest assured that I'm not interested in the dashing of hopes. I'm also not a sadist. I don't find pleasure in writing or reading about the torture of our heroes. Struggles, however, are their bread and butter. Buffy and Spike need struggle. They thrive in the face of it and inspire us fans to be brave. :-) I hope the next chapters are more fun than tense for you, and that you can approach the story going forward as a welcome indulgence. As always, thanks so much for reading and reviewing, Jane. Cheers! Sibb 02/25/2012 03:36 am Chapter 27: No Time for Pleasantries What a pleasure to see an update on this fic. I love this story and...yikes! what is going to happen to Buffy? I'll be checking often for the next installment. Thanks! I'm glad you're still enjoying it. I debated whether or not to develop and resolve certain plot points, or just to end the story with Spike and Buffy's tentative reunion. I'm glad I haven't lost all of you. :-) Jane 02/03/2012 12:08 am Chapter 26: Borrowed Time
Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, I cannot believe you just did that. I'm in bits now, how am I supposed to cope until the next update? You know even though there are a few unresolved issues, I would have been quite happy if this had been the last chapter. This story has delivered everything I ever wanted and more, Including palpatations, which I so hope the next update will relieve. Thanks so much for this review Jane! You know, I think we are of similar minds. I had actually intended to end the story at around 25 chapters. I debated continuing. Then I decided that I should really justify my NC-17 rating since I had advertised it from the beginning. I was also curious to see how well I could write a sex scene. So I was going to end with Chapter 26, which would include a sex scene. Then I kept getting reviews from people at EF about various plot elements. I asked my beta which plot strings she felt needed resolving before I could wrap up the story. She asked others too, and it seemed like most people would be unstatisfied if there wasn't some resolution regarding Shaggy, Willow, Gina, Sonny, the Penis Lady(!), etc. I know! I can't please everyone, and I want to stay true to my own vision, so I'll address what I'll address. We'll all have to wait and see. That said, I do enjoy writing action and tension and Spuffy talking scenes, and I do feel like we should see a few of the other characters again before we finish. I can't believe the story has "delivered everything you ever wanted and more"! That is so amazingly delightful to read! I also love your speculations about the Big Bad. I hope you're pleased with the answer... Thanks so much for always sharing your thoughts. I always love reading your reviews. :-) Oh.... dear.... And we're off on another wild ride where people get hurt and killed and.... *bites nails* I think I must be a bit of an action junkie. Who knew? I had thought that I was in to Spuffy for the romance and the porn! Shit! While Spike was daydreaming Buffy got slayer-knapped! When he finds them the carnage is going to be epic! Yeah. Me thinks Spike will be non-too-pleased when he wakes up. ;-) You slipped this chapter in on me! But that's okay. Now I've got two to read before I go to bed. :) Loved the whole thing - their uncertainly with each other, as well as the way they are finding their way back together. Oh I'm so glad. That chapter was a little "sleepy" but I like writing them just being together, without car crashes and Dragvloks necessarily coming out of the walls. Thanks for reviewing. :-) Jane 01/21/2012 09:03 pm Chapter 25: What Time is This? Can't express my joy at the update, I'm sooo chuffed. What can I say, loved the morning after the big snog fest. I don't mind them taking things slowly, considering they've only been back together a week or so they're doing really well. It was good to see that Sonny is actually taking Spike's advice seriously. Angel's screwed up too many young girls lifes, I'd love for him to get some payback. I have no idea who Shaggy is working for, there's too many twists and turns in the plot. But if it's Willow, it's got to be the ultimate betrayal. Could she have sunk so low? Hope to find out, Great chappie. Thanks Jane! I missed you. :-) I'm delightfulyl surprised by the interest in Shaggy now. People had forgotten his little shenanigans in earlier chapters before we revealed his little undergrond lair. And I'm glad the pace of the Spuffy is accetable. Believability at all costs is my motto. ;-) Thanks for coming back to the story. Spitfire 01/21/2012 08:53 am Chapter 25: What Time is This?
So glad you've posted another chapter - thank you. It's been a great story so far with all the different aspects to it, and I can't wait to find out if Willow is behind the latest developments - and if an angry Spike gets to 'end her'!! The interaction between Spike and Buffy is beautifully written imo - just the right amount of emotional reflection and physical reaction in each of them. They're already like an old married couple; so comfortable with one another, moving from bickering to bantering in the bat of an eyelid. Looking forward to more... Thank you so much for the feedback Spitfire. I'm especially pleased (and relieved) that you find the interaction between the two of them believable and beautiful. At the heart of the adventure, that's what this is all about. However I'm having as much fun with my plot threads... I'm so glad you're still following the story after all of this time! Mmmmm. Peaches. Another lovely chapter. I am quite eager to get to the bottom of this mystery, though what with the Slod, the Penis Lady, and Sonny's attitude problems, there's plenty of interesting stuff to go through before we get there! Oh how I've missed writing and reviews! Thanks rebcake so very much for the feedback. It keeps me motivated to continue. I don't expect the next chapter to be so horribly delayed. Cheers. Jane 11/13/2011 10:55 am Chapter 24: Showtime Just got up from my bed of pain to check for updates, gotta say seeing this up has done me more good than any amount of Lemsip. What can I say, loved it, loved it, loved it. Everything came together so well. I was worried when Spike was waylaid by the M'Fashnicks, glad they were only a minor irritation. The Convo with Kit was really comical, I think we could all do with a Kit. Lovely Spuffy ending, ahhhh.. Aw, you poor thing. Got the flu, huh? Well I'm glad the doctor could help! ;-) Jo 11/12/2011 05:17 pm Chapter 24: Showtime oh my poor heart.. how I love you MsJane, best WIP going. Oh my. Thank you. :-) Rebcake 11/12/2011 02:14 am Chapter 24: Showtime Awwww. They used their words, even. So good to see. I think Buffy is very wise to concentrate on very small details that she's missed, rather than big, flowery delarations that just aren't specific enough to be digestible to a guy that's been so starved for affection. Another lovely chapter. I find it very amusing that Spike is turning to a computer for romantic advice. He'll get his mojo back, I'm sure. I'm curious to know more about the (possibly) Willow-backed undercover operation targeting Buffy. However, I think Buffy should include Dawn in on her investigation. Haven't these guys learned anything about keeping secrets? (Spike'll probably set her straight. It's his specialty, after all.) Teeny edit: "threw" the door ought to be "through" the door. Oh dear. That's more than teeny! Off to correct that, thanks! katamaphone 11/12/2011 01:06 am Chapter 24: Showtime My cup runneth over::)) That was simply heart-felt and lovely. They finally said and shared what they were really feeling and felt, and it was spot on! I loved it! Everything my romantic little heart could desire and then some! Yay! You've made *my* day. Thanks so much! Awwww - lovely, real-feeling reunion scene. Obviously something is going to go terribly wrong any minute.... :) I LOVE that you think it felt real. That's always my aim. Thanks so much SMS! :-) Spitfire 11/11/2011 08:57 pm Chapter 24: Showtime
*Sighs*. That warmed the cockles of me heart! Love the way Buffy tells Spike all the things that she missed about him. That was a very tender exchange between them. I'm not always a fan of post-series fics, but your Buffy and Spike are at once so recognisable and yet so matured that this story has been a joy to read so far. Thanks so much Spitfire! I'm especially pleased that you find the characters recognizable. There's no point writing Spuffy if they're not. We might as well be writing original fics then, you know? Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts. :-) Glad to see that she realized that they belong together. I always knew she could be a little slow on the uptake. :) Were you ever in any doubt? This is Spuffy, after all! I didn't want to rush our herione to the realization in this story. It just wouldn't be canon, in my view, for her to get onbaord the Spike Train so quickly. That's very us, but not her! Thanks so much for the review. :-) Emma 10/30/2011 07:12 pm Chapter 23: Time's Up Please keep posting! Feels like I have been waiting forever for the next chapter in this amazing story! I really like the feeling you give the characters and would hate to see such a wonderful piece of story go to waste and be left unfinished.... love from sweden Fear not, Emma! The story is not forgotten. I've just been working long hours so I've been very sleeeepy after work and haven't had the energy to write. Weekends have been busy with home improvement stuff, so I haven't had time, but I'm personally dying to write what happens next, so I will try to get a chapter up the first week in November. Thanks so much for your support! xanfan23 10/16/2011 02:29 am Chapter 23: Time's Up And the PLOT thickens. The watchers council!! Sputter- what is going on! Very exciting twist. I have been reading as chs are posted but loose the details - plan to read thru again when all is completed. Still don't understand why this slayer group couldn't utilize Angel's advice and expertise since he lived in the same area. I must keep reading. Thanks! "Still don't understand why this slayer group couldn't utilize Angel's advice and expertise since he lived in the same area." Ah. Angel doesn't have so much expertise any more. I think it's the chapter London Time, where Buffy and Willow are discussing Angel being a bit player since the batttle in L.A. where he sent his whole crew to their deaths in his vane attempt to take down the Black Thorn. Also, as was alluded to in Angel the Series when Andrew came with a horde of Slayers to take away the rogue Slayer, Dana, Angel and his crew had very little say in the matter. The Watchers Coucil has become a much more formidable force than one lonely vampire with a soul. They have more useful sources, and he doesn't have a reputation with the Council as being a player. They use him when it occurs to him, as it did before the battle with the Dragvloks, but he's harldy indispensable. This is also consistent with Joss' own Season 8 universe where the world and the Council and the Slayers moved on without him. I'm glad you're enjoying it! Another great chapter! I am excited about the new evil from within...or whatever it turns out to be. (I never liked the Watcher's Council. It would be just like one of the old guard to raise up their children to be Slayer haters and try to snatch back the power. Grrr.) However you decide to go with it, this is a very promising start. And we haven't even seen the return of the Penis Lady, yet! Spike going psycho and then giving yet another Slayer a pep talk is just great. Good ol' Clem, trying to talk him into ratcheting down the destruction. With eggs, no less. I just hope all these people telling Spike that Buffy's into him doesn't end up queering the deal...their luck is not so much, romantically. "I just hope all these people telling Spike that Buffy's into him doesn't end up queering the deal...their luck is not so much, romantically." Luck is for losers! :-) Glad you liked Spike going psycho. I thought it was a fairly realistic sentiment for him to have at this stage in the game. It's been way too long for Angel to still be mucking up the works and getting from Buffy as much as Spike thought he'd been given. Things were finally starting to swing Spike's way, you know? Clem, I just love, so I'm thrilled that people are digging him too the way I'm writing him. Thanks so much for reviewing. :-) I swear maybe those two should consider never speaking to each other out loud again. Maybe writing things down would be better. She never can say exactly what she means and when she flubs it Spike gets pissed. Then it takes forever for them to get on the same page. Very annoying. Things are looking up now, no? Spike hasn't been angry at anything Buffy's said, but at what he thinks she's done . They've only had the one fight and it ended with Shakespeare and smiles! Now Spike thinks she's coming back for him, and she's thinking about a future where Spike shows Benji his fangs. Sounds like the beginning of something special to me. ;-) Thanks for reviewing. :-) Jane 10/15/2011 02:52 pm Chapter 23: Time's Up
Blimey, I so didn't expect that, this stories got layers upon layers and gotta admit, my heads spinning. I suppose like most people I took the Dravlok attacks at face value. The Slayers attacked them, so they wanted revenge. I didn't even consider that there could be some type of Machiavellian, or should that be Willowavellian, plot behind it. I'm gonna stop speculating about what may happen, I'm obviously completely out of my depth. But I must say love how this fics developing. "I think Clem could do good work for the UN." LOL He *is* great, isn't he? Yeah, bloody layers. They're flattening me here! That's the problem with trying to create a world. There's never just one thing happening in a real world, you know? I'm glad it's still fun, though dizzyng! Thanks for reviewing again, Jane. :-) tucker 10/15/2011 02:51 pm Chapter 23: Time's Up What a roller-coaster ride in one segment! But the 'landing' was perfect - thanks! Thank you! Someone else described it as a rollercoaster. I had no idea it would read that way. I'm so glad you liked it. :-) :-) :-) Lop 10/15/2011 02:48 pm Chapter 23: Time's Up aww Spike dearest heart, deep breaths! haha I know! Xander of all people has just told him that Buffy's coming back for him! Aw. :-) Thanks for the review. :-) :-) katamaphone 10/15/2011 02:47 pm Chapter 23: Time's Up I was very excited to see a new chapter up! It was an excellent read...I didn't see that one coming at all....the discovery Buffy made...Yikes! A watcher. Or someone affiliated with the Council of Watchers'. How awful is that? ....... Also.....personally, I was kind of hoping Spike would burn down Angels' house, but with the interruption of Sonny, at least Spike knows the blood "donor" was definately not Buffy! The interaction with Clem was really funny, though for a minute there, I thought that some demons at the card game weren't going to make it out of there alive...and speaking of making it out alive, I hope Buffy doesn't find herself trapped. I can't wait for the next chapter, I'm really looking forward to what happens next! Thanks! I really enjoyed writing Spike and Clem, so it's great that people enjoyed them. I'm surprised by the interest in the dreadlock guy. I think everyone forgot about him being at the Penis Lady's house when it burned down and then at Buffy's house to deliver the Dragvloks. Oh, and I like Milo and Lionel too much to have let Spike hurt them at the bar. ;-) Thanks again for the review! laura 10/05/2011 02:35 am Chapter 22: Time Apart I have a feeling Spike is going to put his foot in his mouth. Can't wait. We'll see... ;-) Spike oughtn't leap to conclusions, even if he is excellent at extracting information from his sources. Another great chapter, as the two of them have epiphanies and gather their loved (or somewhat liked) ones around them. Loved Xander's comparison of Buffy and Spike. Heh. It's obvious how right they are for each other. :-) I'm going to sound like a broken record here, but Spike didn't leap to conclusions. He took a small step and there conclusions were. :-) Glad you liked the chapter! Whoa! And just when I thought things were falling into place for them, you throw another disaster into the mix. (And just so you know, when I went on my tag for the BSV and refreshed it, I was muttering to myself about how I'd really like to see an update to Time's Fool. Thanks for making my afternoon. :) Your wish is my command SMS! So glad you're still enjoying it. I know you like to revisit old chapters if need be, so if you're wondering at all about Buffy's intruder, see chapters 7 and 13. ;-) J 10/02/2011 11:28 pm Chapter 22: Time Apart Oh you're so evil!!! (in a impossibly good way of course) ahhh! poor Spike, now i wanna know what's gonna come down. eeek! the plot thickens. Yeah, you never know what you'll find out in a demon bar, espeically over a game of poker. ;-) Jane 10/02/2011 06:50 pm Chapter 22: Time Apart Yes, finally Buffys starting to admit to herself and others how important Spike is to her. Which may or may not do her any good given Spikes conclusion jumping. I so hope he has it out with her, rather than brooding. No wonder Sonnys bitter, Angel so needs to be outed once and for all. Great update, can't wait to see how you resolve this. I'm no angst queen, Jane, and I have a lot of faith in our Spike. Plus, I think Spike would say that he did not jump to conclusions. He took a tiny step and there conclusions were. ;-) Spitfire 09/23/2011 08:20 am Chapter 21: Time for Something Different
Really enjoyed this chapter. I love the way that things are developing gradually between Buffy & Spike. It's like they're taking all these side-long glances at each other, and pretty soon their eyes are going to meet... I love the way you described their relationship, and I 'm thrilled to bits that you liked the Slod scene! Thanks so much for reviewing. :-) Jane 09/22/2011 03:54 pm Chapter 21: Time for Something Different
I can't believe you updated on my birthday, It's my best prezzie yet, so chuffed my heart has grown a bulge in it. My kids taking me to Stratford on Saturday to see David Tennant in Much Ado, I am truly blessed. Happy Birthday! So glad you liked this chapter. I wasn't sure how it would be received. How cool that you got it on your B-day! And *thank you* for appreciating the OCs still. Yay! katamaphone 09/22/2011 01:59 pm Chapter 21: Time for Something Different That was just beautiful, and so very poignant at the end of the chapter.Spike is one of a kind isn't he? Poor Buffy, true to type, remains after all this time verbally challenged::)) Lovely update, the fighting was brilliant, and very insightful on Spike's part. Beautiful poetry choices, so much emotion conveyed in rhyming sentences. It was lovely. Thanks so much! Those last few lines of the chapter are my favourite, so I am thrilled you appreciated them. :-) OMG I can't begin to tell you how good this chapter is. So, not gonna try. Just - I loved it. Totally. Wow. I'm even more speechless than you are! Thanks! Jane 09/13/2011 08:41 am Chapter 20: Not this Time Persuasion is my favourite as well, it's supposed to be the book that most reflects her life. I've got a couple of versions but the best is the one with Amanda Root and Ciaran Hinds. After that it's got to be Twelfth Night, hey nonny nonny. "The best is the one with Amanda Root and Ciaran Hinds." Here, here! Ciaran Hinds is by far the best Wentworth (he's also a damn good Mr. Rochester, honey!). The other version I have is the Sally Hawkins one and I think I have a very old BBC one that I haven't watched yet. I'm a huge Sally Hawkins fan, of Happy Go Lucky fame, but the Wentowrth in that one is not right, and Anthony Head is sadly not quite right either, and come to think of it, the only character who I prefer in that one is the young Mr. Elliot. By the way, my real name is not Jane. It's just wishful thinking. ;-) xanfan23 09/13/2011 01:52 am Chapter 20: Not this Time Excellent chapter - everyone should have a kit. Look forward to understanding these slayers in the warehouse. What's their trauma as Cordelia might say. Wonderful cliffhanger ending. Will enjoy reading from the first when its all done for sure!! thanks Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying it. :-) Hmmm I may need to go back and read earlier stuff. I'm not remembering Max or anything about him. I presume Buffy thought about or mentioned him at some point and I've just forgotten it. I sense some major angst coming up... I wonder what Spike heard? (Really glad to see an update of this story. I've been watching for it. So many of the other stories I'd been following have been finished. I was feeling deprived.) :) Max is a newly-introduced character. Buffy ran into him unexpectedly, and now so has the reader. ;-) He's an ex-boyfriend, so there was no reason for him to be introduced previously. I don't know how major the angst will be. We'll see... Thanks. :-) Jane 09/12/2011 08:46 pm Chapter 20: Not this Time
Happiness is an update, yay yay yay. You know I feel like Captain Harville in Persuasion. Remember that bit where he tells Anne how much he misses his family whilst at sea. And how he calculates how soon it'll be before he can see them again and pretends to deceive himself by saying I won't see them until such a day, while secretly hoping he'll see them 12 hours sooner. That's me. As soon as I've read an update I try to work out when there'll be another. Taking into account the fact that you've got an actual 'life' which unlike mine, involves life and death decisions. I don't know how you do it, but I'm so glad you do. Jane, you're so good to me! How did you know that I *love* that line from Persuasion? The book is wonderful and I watch two different BBC versions of that book all the time - even more than I watch the Colin Firth/Jennifer Ehle P&P. Would that I could ever come close to writing a paragraph as delightful as one of Jane's! I'm so glad you're still enjoying the story. It really makes it all worth while when readers enjoy it as much as you seem to. Thanks. :-) Jane 09/05/2011 08:58 pm Chapter 19: Like Old Times
Was so thrilled to see an update, I love this reality, sooo much better than canon. Aw, thanks Jane! I'm really pleased people like this Clem voice. I really wanted to get him right. And yeah, Angel has had enough screen time and enough words written about him. He really needed to be made a non-issue with respect to Spuffy. Thanks for the review! Spitfire 09/04/2011 10:28 pm Chapter 19: Like Old Times
Loved the demon bar scenes in this and previous chapter. Great Spike/Buffy interaction. Lovely ending to this chapter!
Thanks Spitfire! I was worried the bar scene was too similar to the previous, and that Spike got his information too easily, but it was never going to be hard to hear about something as 'successful' as the Dragvlok attack. I'm glad you liked the Spuffy. I like writing them spending time together, talking and doing nothing. Thanks again. :-) Kale 09/04/2011 09:19 pm Chapter 19: Like Old Times Wow this story is so good! I am very Glad you posted another chapter! Can´t wait for the next part. How does Buffy feel for Spike, did she miss him all those years? Will she tell him? can´t wait to find out. Thanks Kale! I try to show how Buffy is feeling through Spike's observations of her behaviour. He doesn't know what her beahviour means, but I'm trying to let the reader see how she feels. part of the problem is that Buffy has not sat down and really thought about what her own behaviour means. She's just acting. And since she doesn't believe in talk - being all action girl now - in life and and in love, her actions are doing all of the talking. I'm thinking I'll show you ugys a bit more of what's going on in her brain next chapter. It shouldn't take as long as this update. ;-) Ah, I've been hopng for an update of this fic. This was lovely. Two steps forward, one back - neither one really sure of themselves but settling in to the comfort of being together. I'm enjoying this so much. :) Really? Cool! I was worried that with the action dying down, people would get a little bored with it, but I forgot that people had always expected this to be a romance fic in the first place, not an action fic. I'm really itching to turn up the temperature in this fic, but not too quickly. So glad you enjoyed it. Thanks! Emma 08/30/2011 06:28 pm Chapter 18: No Time Like the Present
I little "fanvideo" someone ambitious made - I hope it gives you a little motivation back to all love for Buffy!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZwM3GvaTRM Please please please don´t give up on this story! Can´t wait for the next part and that almost-kiss was as good as its gets
Thanks Emma. I won't give up on the story, but my job has conspired with my lack of motivation to slow my writing down. Someone just left a nice review at Elysian Fields and reinspired me, so I've been writing the next chapter the last few days. Your feedback is yet more encouragement, so thank you.
Wow, that Edward Cullen guy is so lame. I couldn't finish the video he was getting on my nerves so much! Emma 08/29/2011 07:28 pm Chapter 18: No Time Like the Present Please please please don´t give up on this story! Can´t wait for the next part and that almost-kiss was as good as its gets Thanks Emma. :-) I won't give up on the story, but my job has conspired with my lack of motivation to slow my writing down. Someone just left a nice review at Elysian Fields and reinspired me, so I've been writing the next chapter the last few days. Your feedback is yet more encouragement, so thank you. :-) Jane 08/21/2011 10:30 am Chapter 18: No Time Like the Present Didn't watch Angel much, but thought the Slod was a well written character. Genuinely sinnister which is what you want in a baddie. Keep up the good work. Thanks. Yeah I have no idea if he's remotely similar to the original character, but it's fine writing "creepy". I just hope I have enough steam to continue with this story. It was supposed to be only twenty chapters! Good chapter - tension still high between the girls, but Dawn and Xander accepting. Nice UST there, too. Thanks. :-) Jane 08/17/2011 11:41 pm Chapter 18: No Time Like the Present Wow brilliant, the temperature was definately uped a notch or two there. Love where this story is going, there's a new twist around every corner. I was horrified by the revelation of the organ harvester, though you touched on it when you introduced the Caretaker. The reality was dark and disturbing. He's a horrible creature, but a genuinely creepy bad guy. Really can't wait for Buffy to slay him. I'm looking forward to seeing what Clems been up to in your world, it'll be great for Spike to have a friend again. Maybe he can give him some advice. Super update, love how Buffy and Spikes relationship is developing with just the right amount of longing and lust. So looking forward to more. Yeah, I'm excited for Clem, too! I hadn't realized how creepy the Slod sounded. That's actually a real demon. I found a website listing all the demons from the Whedonverse and Angel the Series had a Slod demon. I didn't watch much of that show so I don't know the demon, but apparently it collected organs and vampire hearts were supposedly rare and a favourite collector's item. I love working within the Whedonverse. :-) Anyway, I'm glad the story is still interesting. As always, thanks for the review. katamaphone 08/15/2011 02:43 pm Chapter 18: No Time Like the Present Okay............I get it.......you're all with the torture, but for a second there, I really thought he was going to kiss her, and I was all; go for it Spike, but hen the bartender was with the interrupting, ( bad bartender)!!!!!..............I guess I'll have to wait::))......But in all seriousness, it was a lovely chapter, and showed that, yes, indeed, Buffy wants Spike with her, and not just temporarily. They still walk on eggshells around each other and seem to be afraid to open up....still recognizably Buffy and Spike. I love this story and now I'm very curious about just who the "old friend"is.....Looking forward to the next update::)) Wow. I'm so pleased you're enjoying it so much. :-) Do you really not know who the friend is? There are hints in previous chapters. I liked writing that almost kiss, and I never realized how hard it can be to write that stuff. I'm glad it was suitably tense! Thanks so much for the review. Jane 08/03/2011 07:47 pm Chapter 17: Time Out
Sooo was that a yes or a no, curiouser and curiouser.Sorry about the typo, was rushing to the chiropractors whilst reading, so didn't check. No worries. We'll touch on 'the break' once again, but just a touch. ;-) Jane 08/02/2011 07:01 pm Chapter 17: Time Out Joy, another fantastic update. Loved the opening scenes with the baby slayers. There's bound to be recriminations after so many deaths, but you could see they were starting to bond again. It was good to see Xander and Spike still had the old banter, Xands blind where Wilows concerned, but there's something to be said for loyalty. Liked the explanation of Buffys immortality and the status of the slayers. Is it just me? or is it strange that Spike can take on 3 Dravlocks at once and sparre with Buffy seeemingly at his old level. I'm thinking the hand holding during his roman candle routine might have something to do with it. Buffys gift was death, but in some cultures death means rebirth. Maybe the original demon has decided to restore the balance her own way. Well just a thought. So looking forward to the next installment, brilliant as always. "Is it just me? or is it strange that Spike can take on 3 Dravlocks at once and sparre with Buffy seeemingly at his old level." - You're not the first reader to wonder that... I'm happy you liked the opening scene with the Slayerettes. I was hoping it was realistic enough in terms of emotional responses after the battle. I also like that you reconize the power of loyalty when it comes to the original Scoobies. That loyalty is canon through-and-through. Thank you for continuing to review Jane! This story just gets better and better. I love your OCs, your insights into The Future, and your incorporation of all that's gone on in the past. This is getting so rich and complex. Originally, it looked like a good-quality reunion fic, but you've got all these interesting threads that just seem to be leading to an epic yarn. There's the penis-head lady, the Dravloks, Precious the Healer, a Clem we've barely seen, and the biggest bad of all: Willow. I've a feeling we're going to see the 1% of her that isn't so loving, generous, and wonderful. Can't wait! What a great review! It's so satisfying that you appreciate the OCs, since they are the main part of the story that is mine. It's nice to know I can fashion interesting characters on my own without the genius of Joss. I like your assessment of things, and you're right, there are a few players on the scene at the moment. I don't know how complex things will become, but there are certainly a number of places I could go... Thanks again for reviewing. :-) Curtis 08/01/2011 09:49 pm Chapter 17: Time Out Buffy is a moron. I can't believe she still trusts Willow after all this time. What a dum ass. During all this time, Willow has spent most of it being a friend to Buffy. On the show, Joss demonstrated very clearly how ultimately loyal the Scoobies were to each other, no matter what they'd done. Willow tried to destroy the whole world and dragged Buffy from Heaven, and yet Buffy forgave her for both. Buffy has always had an immense power of forgiveness - forgiving Angel/us, pre-souled Spike, Xander, Giles and even Dawn for their various crimes against her. Pin 07/28/2011 03:00 pm Chapter 16: In Time for Dawn I really like the way you handled the 'reboot', and that Spike finally ignored Angel's ranting. Thanks! Thanks. Funny how everyone is calling it the "reboot" now instead of a resurrection. That was fun to write, those flashbacks. Glad you're enjoying it! Jane 07/27/2011 12:42 am Chapter 16: In Time for Dawn Yay another brilliant chapter. Loved the ressurrection, inspired move to have Buffy relive so many pivitol movements in her life. Great interaction between Xander and Dawn. I found him quite likeable whereas usually he irritates the hell out of me. What can you say about Angel. He's not just delusional, he's totally lost the plot. His vision of the future sounds spinechillingly Angelus like. At least Spike isn't taken in by his bollocks. Can't wait to see what happens next, Buffy seems to be opening up, but with her it can be one step forward two steps back. Looking forward to more, Loved it. Thanks Jane! The main reason the resurrection flashbacks work, is because I was working with such awesome source material: those monologues and conversations I chose from the show were themselves inspired. Unbelievably good stuff. As for Xander, I don't see any reason to emphasize his bad qualities. He's supposed to be a flawed but sympathetic character with a deep, abiding loyalty, love and respect for the women around him he calls family. And, Angel. Well, I tried to give a certain logic to his reasoning on the subject of Buffy. It makes sense in his brain that as immortals, he and Buffy would ultimately end up together after she adjusted. Anyway, so glad you're still enjoying it - and reviewing. ;-) Emma 07/26/2011 09:31 am Chapter 16: In Time for Dawn Beautiful. I think that may be one of my favourite reviews for this chapter. Thanks Emma. I really enjoyed writing this chapter. I thought it had heart. I'm so glad it was appreciated that way. Jane 07/20/2011 08:55 pm Chapter 15: A Time to Cry
Can't think of enough superlatives to describe this chapter, absolutely adored it. Excuse me while I do the Snoopy Dance... Okay, I'm done. It's so much fun entertaining people with this story. I'm relieved this chapter wasn't a dud. I wasn't sure about it - being so action heavy - and I wasn't sure the action was tense and interesting enough. I really love that readers are responding to the OC's - Pipa and Gina in particular, but how delightful that Carla and Sally have become sympathetic characters too! You're so right that Buffy would have wanted Spike to help the others, and you know - I hadn't thought of it that way. I had only thought of what Spike would ultimately do out of his own sense of what was right. Thanks so much Jane for sontinuing to hsare your thoughts on each chapter. I really do love hearing from the readers. Cheers. Ha! Frightened me there for a second until I realized it was Buffy speaking. I was looking around for Faith when she called him "Blondie". :) I got an email about this review - yay! Yeah, "Blondie" isn't Xander's usual nickname, but Spike ditched the peroxide, so Xander went for the next best name. No worries at all about my bringing Faith into the story. She's undeniably an interesting character, but I've never cared for her and am not really interested in telling her story. Great pacing to this tale! Also like the way you placed The Caretaker in there. He's like one of those mysterious shamans on Angel who just appear suddenly or slowly in this case. I *love* the Caretaker, Joyce, so i'm super excited when readers like him too. Thanks for the review! Jane 07/09/2011 04:50 pm Chapter 14: Out of Time Stupepous update, I'm bouncing in my chair with excitement. Didn't expect it till tomorrow, so I'm doubly thrilled. You keep cranking up the excitement level. Was thinking the next big confrontation was gonna be with Angel almost forgotten about the real big bads. So hope Buffy and Spike reach Slayer Central in time to do some good, I like the baby slayers. I don't miss the Scoobies at all. Thanks Jane! What a wonderful review! I'm so pleased the baby Slayers are likable, because it was so hard for me to like them on the show or to care about them in Season 8. Is it really exciting you, the story? Awesome. Thanks so much for reviewing. See you next chapter... Wow - things are getting exciting! Great fight scene. LA should be interesting... what with everyone showing up at the same time. :) Thanks SMS! I get so happy when people appreciate the fisticuffs! Yeah, L.A. should be interesting. Let's see if I can actually achieve that. ;-) Thank you for continuing to review! Fantastic! Great descriptive action! You got it girl! Awesome! You know I specifically asked my beta if she could see the action. I really wanted you guys to enjoy that. Thanks so much for continuing to review! Emma 07/04/2011 10:38 am Chapter 13: Crunch Time God I love this story. Can´t wait for the next part! Really? Wow. Knowing that makes writing Chapter 14 so much more fun! Thanks for sharing! :-) jane 07/04/2011 08:57 am Chapter 13: Crunch Time Wow that was really exciting, what a team. I think the baby slayers will be impressed by the backup. Well once they get over the shock of yet another souled vamp. Great action, can't wait for more. Yay! Action fan! It's soo cool to read you found that exciting. Thanks for the review! shelby 06/26/2011 12:41 pm Chapter 12: In the Nick of Time Wow nice fight/flight scene with the slayers. These badies seem tougher and for some reason scarier then your "run of the mill" demons or maybe it's just been a while since I've read anything with a(good) baddie. As for the dynamic duo. Leave it too Buffy to go from "panicked" to "uber house mom." I can feel the confusion surrounding poor Spike. I can't even imagine what it would be to like to run into the love of your undead life after thinking she was "dead n gone" or at the very least "old n grey." Let alone the consequences to come. Also, I'm looking forward to your explanation as to "why" there are no photo's of Giles or Willow. (I can hazard a guess.) Well, keep up the good work. Ta! Shelby I love it when readers tell me everything they're thinking! It lets me know how the story reads, what I'm revealing, hiding and how. Sweet. It's nice to know the fight scene wasn't forgotten with the Spuffy in the second half of the chapter. Thanks so much for the review! Emma 06/26/2011 01:44 am Chapter 12: In the Nick of Time I really like your story and your vision of what their future could be like, and I really like Buffy in this story
Thanks Emma. It's nice to hear someone liking Buffy the most in a Spuffy story for a change! Thanks for reviewing.
- I like Buffy in general, she is a strong independent woman (girl-woman) and hey, he is a massmurderer who has killed pretty much everything the last decade, people should give the poor girl a break. We can´t all be feminim and forgiving all the time :P I think Buffy is what drives me to watch the tvshow and read fanfic, it is very interesting to see how other people see her and what parts of her persona they choose to bring to the light and focus on. I think it´s great that you recognize that she was just a child before but she is a grown woman of probably 60 something now. Of course she has changed. I like how you "see" it. Yes! Buffy has always been the heart of the show. She's a real inspiration for me - her strength, her courage, her self-sacrifice. Joss made the show a demonstration of the inner beauty and power of women, and it has always spoken to me in that way. The last thing I would want to do is betray the spirit of the show in the service of a Spuffy romance. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. :-) hng23 06/25/2011 05:06 pm Chapter 12: In the Nick of Time I've just read this from start to here in one go & I've really enjoyed it. I like your older/wiser Buffy. Looking forward to more, hopefully soon. N Thanks for the review! I'm thrilled Buffy is shining out in this fic. Cheers. Jane 06/25/2011 12:03 pm Chapter 12: In the Nick of Time
Terrific update, found myself feeling really anxious for the newbie slayers. Hope they make it home. Glad you liked it! I wasn't sure how the first half would be received. So glad the newbies are sympathetic characters. Thanks for reviewing! Emma 06/25/2011 09:25 am Chapter 12: In the Nick of Time Hej :) I really like your story and your vision of what their future could be like, and I really like Buffy in this story :) Thanks Emma. It's nice to hear someone liking Buffy the most in a Spuffy story for a change! Thanks for reviewing. :-) Yeah, i feel sorry for the penis lady.. and doesn't that sound weird? Weird? Nope. It seems like that was always her name now. :-) Thanks for the review! Jane 06/22/2011 08:54 am Chapter 11: Time Alone
Loved the update, sweet and poignant. Even felt a bit sorry for Penis Lady, well just a smidgeon. Thanks Jane! I appreciate your taking the time to review. And I'm pleased I'm getting a little sympathy for the penis lady. What's the word for racism targeted against other species? Cause that's what a lot of people seem to exhibit who don't have any sympathy for her. I don't see anyone hating vampires. They kill people too! Thanks again for reviewing. I'm glad you're still enjoying it. Nice chapter - and, yeah, dunno about feeling sorry for the penis lady, but if she's helped bring Spike back into Buffy's life.... Thanks for the review. :-) So you don't feel even a little bit sad for her? She's a mother! x 06/18/2011 12:13 pm Chapter 11: Time Alone
Loved the chapter.. and Spike's ramblings of his feelings for Bufffy..Happy but sad. Back together yet not. Thanks 'x'. So glad you enjoyed it! And BIG thanks for always being so good about letting me know. diebirchen 09/24/2011 12:48 am Chapter 10: London Time Text I'll see your labradoodle and raise you a Hungarian puli! OMG I just Googled the Hungarian puli. I've never seen anything like that! LOL Too cute, and almost unbelievable. :-) 06/15/2011 07:16 am Chapter 10: London Time just found this and read it all the way through...great job so far! there are so many buffy/spike reunion stories out there, but the length of their time apart and buffy's surprise immortality bring a different dynamic to this one. can't wait to see where it goes Thanks for the review! Yeah, I think I've read most of those reunion stories, so I was looking for something different when I decided to try just writing the story instead. So glad you're enjoying it! Nice talk. Loved Buffy's initial reaction to finding out Angel has known. Wonder how long it will take S/B to figure out that they can be immortal together? :) Ooh! Glad you liked Buffy's initial reaction. That was the trickiest part to write. Thanks for reviewing! x 06/11/2011 01:14 pm Chapter 10: London Time
Not a season 8 -person.. Hear a lot of Spuffy people are not happy with it .. but. Thanks for the feedback "x". Yeah, they did make Xander too whiny. He had some troubling character flaws - many of which have been very well explored in fan fic. Pity you don't remember Andrew trying to slaughter the pig and saying "Babe in the City was really underrated". Season 8 (comic) had HEAPS of troubling stuff - especially for Spuffy fans, but those of us who read the full season will be rewarded I think in Season 9. Xander, thankfully, was pretty cool in Season 8. It was actually a pretty awesome series despite certain plot developments, and I'd never read comics before. Thanks again for the review. :-) Jane 06/11/2011 12:35 pm Chapter 10: London Time
Really pleased with the speedy update. I'm glad Buffy finally knows what Spike went through after Sunnydale. If she can't see why Spike decided not to contact her after the Rome affair, then she's still an idiot. Spikes a confrontationalist, if he hadn't cared so much, he wouldn't have ben avoiding her for the last 40 years. I've noticed most fics excuse Andrew for not telling Buffy about Spikes reappearance. Yeh he asked him not to tell her, but for me he only gave up on her after Rome, because Andrew misled him. The mere fact that he showed up at her flat, says to me he wanted her to know he was back. Well I hope a good nights rest gives Buffy some perspective. Sooo Willows still a control freak, not surprised. Wondering if that's gonna have a bearing on this fic. Then there's Angel, 'whose in the dog house'. I still thnk of him as a manipuative creep. Just can't help it. He may not be responsible for Buffy and Spike being separated for all these years, but he's definately proved a hinderance to any reconciliation. Can't wait to see his reaction when he finds out they've found each other. Wow, Jane. I'm so pleased you reviewed. Most readers don't realize how much we appreciate reviews! I'm thrilled you enjoyed the update. I won't comment on your feelings on the characters, because I don't want to give anything away, but I definitely understand your views. I hope I can continue to update as regularly. Thanks again! Cheers, MsJane Mex 06/08/2011 07:29 pm Chapter 9: Losing Time I find your story today and read from began to end (hope real end isn´t close). This is nice and i look forward next part. I love when Spike mistake daemon for Buffy. Angel waits unpleasant surprise, is not? He would deserve that for concealment on both sides. An end i sorry for my bad english and thank PC translator that enable me read in foreign language. Greet from Czech Republic. Thanks so much Mex for leaving a review! I'm glad you're enjoying it! jane 06/07/2011 08:56 pm Chapter 9: Losing Time I'm so into this story. the writings excellent and I can't wait to see what happens next. Wow. Thanks for that jane! That is very encouraging! And there it is. Awesome way to end the chapter. I love the little two steps forward, one back of their getting to know each other again. Well done, and very believable. Aw, thanks SMS. I love the way you described their dynamics right now. Thanks again for reviewing. x 06/07/2011 07:16 pm Chapter 9: Losing Time
Buffy on a Bike.. who would have known.. and no crashing. I guess 60 years of experience has helped.. Thanks! Glad to know you're still reading. :-) diebirchen 09/23/2011 11:32 pm Chapter 8: Time's Fool Text I'm realy enjoying your story, and ya know, 3 months is more than I could take with Angel. :-) I mean, really! Ooh! A review from an earlier chapter! These are always fun to read. Thanks so much. Yes, three months with age would feel like an age, but this story is not supposed to be an aternate universe. It's supposed to be canon-esque, and if you've read Season 8, then you would have been dismayed hat Joss sees Buffy as having had serious feelings about Angel - but ones that I think can dissipate under the right circumstances. Thanks for the review! Ms Jane, all your pieces and quips are working just right! Ooh thanks!! That chapter has some fun lines. Glad you liked them!! Missed this chapter somehow - and it'a doozy! *runs off to the next one* Yeah, this chapter is the story's namesake! Does that mean you read Chapter 9 first? Oh no! :-) Secrethistory 06/06/2011 11:52 pm Chapter 8: Time's Fool Just read all 8 chapters, and really enjoyed them. I like the way you have set up Buffys current situation and am enjoying meeting some of the slayers, and the action scenes. Looking forward to the ongoing story and relationship with Buffy and Spike. Thank you! I'm so glad you like the action scenes! I'm also glad people seem to be responding to Buffy in this story, and are not focused solely on Spike. Thanks for reviewing. :-) x 06/04/2011 02:04 pm Chapter 8: Time's Fool
Finally, the meet up.. and of course they had a nice "fight". And Buffy hasn't aged. Maybe the majic of the amulet through the touch. Wow. That's a really interesting reason for her not to have aged. I hadn't thought of that! jane 06/04/2011 08:58 am Chapter 8: Time's Fool Perfect meeting knew the punch on the nose was inevitable. Poor Buffy she hasn't got a clue whats going on. Knowing these two it's gonna take a while for them to open up. Can'y wait for more. Bless you Jane for reviewing. Glad you're still enjoying it! Yeah, no matter how many years may have passed, Spike was never gonna escape a punch in the nose. ;-) Awestruck! Dumbfounded? (hee-hee..) Yay. That's what I was going for! oh my god, what a way to end this chapter, so can't wait for the next one, great stuff. Yay! Thanks mazza! Jane 05/29/2011 02:26 pm Chapter 7: Same Time, Same Place I'm hanging by my fingernails here. Brilliant update. Ooh, thanks Jane! Emma S 05/29/2011 12:11 pm Chapter 7: Same Time, Same Place I love you, you amazing, please post the next chapter! I´m begging over here :) can´t wait. I love you too for appreciating the story and reviewing! Thanks! Just making the finishing touches on Chapter 8... x 05/28/2011 10:20 pm Chapter 7: Same Time, Same Place
Wrong one Spike.. not that old I guess..
Interesting thought about how Buffy will react. We'll see...
She was old. He knew she would be, of course. Heh. Excellent case of mistaken identity! Don't we always see what we expect, even through the veil of not-tears? This story is great good fun, and I'm enjoying immensely. Yay! Thanks for the review Rebcake! I love when people stop to review a chapter when there are other chapters ahead. And you reviewed my favourite chapter too! And my favourite scene! So glad you think it's fun. More than one person has commented on the tone being sombre, and maybe it is in some ways, which I kinda like, but I also wanted it to be fun and satisfying, you know? So now I'll be wanting to know about every scene you like... Thanks again. Me happy now. great writing - the ending is just perfect, "the mini was gone", so what now, will Spike turn up, will penis lady demon turn up? next chapter soon please. Thanks mazza! Next chapter is up. Enjoy. Jane 05/25/2011 10:09 pm Chapter 6: Time to Kill Brilliant chapter, the suspense is killing me, but loving it. I wonder what scared the girls, hoping it was a certain big bad. Things aren't looking good for the mini. Hope its not a classic. Looking forward to more. Thanks Jane! It's so much fun reading people's reactions and predictions. Hope you like the next chapter. Cheers.
Um, Spike? I think your plan might not go so well, at least, the part about getting your mind off a certain woman... Fun, really? Yay!
Thanks so much for reviewing! jane 05/21/2011 04:08 pm Chapter 5: Biding Time Yay feel a reunion coming on. I'm so excited, can't wait for more. Thanks Jane! Loved the scene of Spike with the two slayers. Classic Spike. :) psst - "rein" not "reign" Thanks SMS! (Error fixed. Cheers.) x 05/21/2011 01:41 pm Chapter 5: Biding Time
Girls talk.. waiting to see if Buffy finds out .. about the friend of Angel's that doesn't kill humans. Thanks! Ewwww on that thing. And anything else that paralyzes too. This is torture for those slayers. Ha Ha. Everyone is grossed out by the penis lady. Jane 05/18/2011 11:21 pm Chapter 4: Next Time
Was really excited to see this fic updated so quickly. Thinking on season 7 I guess Spike didn't have much reason to believe Buffy really loved him. Her 'does it have to mean something' comment and 'I'm not ready to see you gone' was hardly inspiring. I can't wait to see how you handle the reunion. Buffy seems to have grown up some, so maybe they'll get to talk before she pops him one. Loved the update, looking forward to more. Thanks for the review Jane! You're right. Spike had no reason to believe Buffy loved him, and if you watched any of Angel the Series, that was reinforced. He had decided to let her move on during that show. Thanks for the review. x 05/18/2011 01:50 am Chapter 4: Next Time
Yuck... the penis lady LOL .. Thanks mystery reader! Good Spike and Angel squabbling. Angel seems even more lame than ever. Thanks. :-) Yeah... Angel. I can't help but to paint him as I've always seen him - that is, deeply flawed. loved the meeting between Spike and Angel, and of course Angel is keeping secrets isn't he? This is building up nicely and you are doing a great job of making me impatient for the next chapters. Thanks mazza! I love writing Spike. He's so much fun. Thanks again for the review! SeaPea 05/15/2011 02:04 am Chapter 3: What Time Won't Change This is still intriguing. Perfect conversation between Angel and Spike. Thanks SeaPea! (Love the name, by the way.) I really like writing Spike's dialogue, so I'm glad it rings true to you. Thanks for the review! jane 05/14/2011 05:59 pm Chapter 3: What Time Won't Change
I don't know if I'm just being paranoid, but it seems to me Angel's keeping a few secrets. Not just from Spike, but maybe from Buffy too. I wondered why Buffys internal monologues didn't include any reference to Spike. Now I'm thinking it's because she thinks he's dead. I could really believe that of Angel. He defines himself as being the love of Buffys life, his salvation. Much as Spike once did Dru and I've always thought he was a selfish bastard. Still it would be wicked of him to have kept B/S apart all this time. All will be revealed in time Jane, in time. Remember though, that nothing has ever stopped Spike from finding, or finding out about, Buffy, except himself. He thinks he is loving her properly by letting her go, especially since he thinks she didn't love him anyway. Angel just hasn't volunteered any information about her... Also, don't forget that this story is post AtS, not post BtVS, so Angel knew they had a relationship, but he thought it was more sexual on Buffy's end. He never got a sense on that show that Buffy was truly in love with Spike. Thanks for reading and an even bigger thanks for reviewing! Good story Miss J = are the other slayers getting old or are they dying off because they're getting killed? And where is that maniac Faith? Answers to those questions and more coming up! Hi! I am enjoying this so much that I reviewed chapter 1 twice :D! Excellent writing. Wow. Thanks Joyce! And thank you for reviewing more than one chapter, even though it looks like you are reading them all at once! NIce setup - I would have liked to see you write out the fight scenes. Thanks. There are fight scenes to come. :-) Loving the concept. My complaint..well, I guess it's not a complaint as you got it right for Buffy. If you keep training, you get better as you age. My punches and kicks are much better now at 60+ than when I got my black belt. But Spike should know better that Buffy would not give it up. Thanks for your feedback Joyce. Don't forget that Buffy had always talked about wanting a normal life, and that was before she was ripped out of heaven where she was finally able to rest. Leading an army for more than forty years is a lot to ask of her, so I didn't think Spike would have expected her to be as involved as before - not with a world of slayers. Thanks for the review! what an interesting start. Well written and plenty to make me wonder what will happen next. Looking forward to next chapter. Thanks mazza! x 05/10/2011 03:03 am Chapter 1: Times Change, but the Song Stays the Same
Sounds interesting. Waiting for the Buffy/Spike meetup. Thanks! You may have to wait a few chapters but I hope it will be worth the wait. Thanks for reviewing! Love this opening premise! Arrrgh on "Joycie" though.. Thanks! Yeah Joycie is a bit cutesy, but I think Dawn would name her daughter after her mom and Xander would name his son after his best friend. Calling her Joyce would get confusing, hence the cutesy nickname. Thanks so much for the review! SeaPea 05/06/2011 03:42 am Chapter 1: Times Change, but the Song Stays the Same Great start. I'm looking forward to more. Interesting premise. Thanks for the review and for giving the story a go. I wasn't sure if anyone would be enticed by the summary. It makes it sound like Buffy's an old lady! Sibb 05/05/2011 05:16 am Chapter 1: Times Change, but the Song Stays the Same Wonderful beginning! I love the picture of Dawn and Zander middle-aged. Looking forward to updates! Wow, thanks! You're my first reviewer too. I've already got the next four chapters written, just tidying them up. Thanks for reading! MsJane | |||
