"You’re a hypocritical piece of work, watcher," Spike told Giles. "You’ve lied to her, abandoned her, poisoned her, endangered her, and worked behind her back to undermine her, and you think I’m the one who’s bad for her.” Spike confronts Giles after Lies My Parents Told Me.

  “So, you wanna tell me what really happened down there?”
    “Nothing,” Spike said, annoyed, “it was just stuff. Memories. Nothing important.”
    “Nothing important doesn’t usually make your hands shake,” Buffy said softly.
    Buffy tries to help Spike find the source of the First’s trigger, after she releases him in Lies My Parents Told Me. It is not a short or pleasant journey.

Spike had been pretty down lately. Sometimes Buffy wished she could just shake him. Where the hell was Spike under all this? She knew he had a soul, now, but – god. Did a soul do nothing but make vampires melancholy brood machines? Set after The Killer In Me, before Get It Done.

“Even if he was okay with it, even if he was a bad person, even if... if he... did the same thing to someone else. That wouldn’t make what I did right.” Buffy talks to Dawn in the car ride home from the train yard, in Him.

After years of struggling for a life of her own, the immortal Slayer is finally free from the demands of her friends and the Council. Will she be willing to go back in time and do it all over again, just for the chance to be with the vampire that was always meant to be her other half? An enemy from the future will give her the chance, if she wants it.

This story is complete, I'll post at least one chapter a week.

Response to challenge #494, starts during "Crush" and goes AU after that. Spike asks Buffy why she won't be with him. The main reason is clear: he's a souless vampire. 

Buffy Summers was hoping that when she moved to Sunnydale, she could forget about all of the 'Slayer' stuff that was thrust upon her in L.A. These hopes are quickly smothered though when she finds out that the librarian at Sunnydale High is also her new Watcher. Even worse, the small, quiet town she's just moved to is floating on a Hellmouth. Apparently, destiny has a slightly tighter grip on her than she thought. This story is a series rewrite, starting from Welcome to the Hellmouth. It is built on the simple question of, how would things have gone if Buffy had met a different ensouled vampire on her way to the Bronze that night?

Spike finds out the real reason of why Buffy ended things with him.

Loving Buffy is never a stable environment as Spike has learned since her return from heaven. All he’s done is to try to help and all it’s achieved is to make things worse. So what might actually help this broken Slayer? 

Setting: S6 all canon through “Dead Things” then it goes AU to varying degrees after Chapter 1.

With a tub of ice-cream in her lap, Buffy wallows in misery over Angel disappearing out of her life in a puff of overly dramatic smoke. Her life gets turned upside down when her hated enemy staggers drunk off his face to her front porch. Not only is he demanding her help, he is invading her personal space. She’s had enough!

Post-S3. Angel and Drusilla are a no show. Meanwhile Buffy and Spike embark on an adventure full of childish bickering, UST and reluctant camaraderie that will change what they thought were unshakable perceptions.
