An imaginary Season VI conversation, overheard by the Scoobies

The hellmouth is closed and they've kinda won, so why is Buffy griefstricken? While traveling cross country, Buffy deals with losing Spike while gaining her chance at a "normal life".

Set in season 5, just a short Spuffy adventure written to meet some of the prompts at sb_fag_ends annual Halloween Challenge. The prompts were crystal, pure spring water, and mirror.  Everybody gets a bit damp... and naked.

I wrote this to post for Seasonal_Spuffy. It starts during the Season 2 episode "I Only Have Eyes For You"; and is my idea on what would have happened if Spike had observed Buffy and Angel's meeting in the school. Winner of Best Original Character in Blood Ties Awards Round 4. I’ve always been fascinated by Spike’s remarks about his cousin in Goodbye Iowa. This is set just before Christmas and so before Buffy’s birthday party in Older and Far Away. Spike has a big favour to ask the Slayer and it will lead to all sorts of jealousy when she meets a certain member of his family.

“You can’t blame a girl, Spike. You’re all covered with her. I look at you... all I see is the slayer.”

How exactly did Spike leave the bathroom? What words were said? How did Buffy end up on the floor, and how could Spike possibly leave his coat, and so forth? Well, here's my interpretation of that scene before the Xan Man comes barging in...

Did you ever wonder what could have happened if our favourite vamp had reacted differently after being disinvited from the Slayer’s home? Set immediately post-Crush, Spike takes a stand, and Buffy is forced to face some harsh truths. Will she finally admit her true feelings, or continue swimming in that famous river called denial? Will it even matter? May contain mild spoilers up to and including Crush.
