Around five years after the events of 'Angels and Demons' we revisit the 'Spike's Will Be Done' universe. All is not well with our favourite vampire. Buffy has gone and he's been left to his own devices. Giles has one more ghost from the past that needs to be laid to rest, but when he tries to enlist Buffy's help, things don't go quite as he thought.

T_geyer asked for Spike and/or Wes for this year's birthday fic, so how could I refuse?

Jerusha asked for a Wes-fic, possibly set in the SWBD 'verse for her birthday, so that's what she got... in a way, at least.

Merry Christmas 2005 to AlwayJBJ. She wanted a "missing moment" from the SWBD 'verse with Spike & Wes. This would fit in the timeline after 'The Moonlight Gamblers'.

I asked my beta what sort of fic she might like for her birthday. Here's what she asked for...

" So, if you feel inspired, what appeals to me is either Spike or Wes. If you pick Spike and want him to be involved with someone, it should be Buffy; if you pick Wes, I don't have any strong feelings about it. I'm open as to whether it's BtVS or AtS, and when, but some of the things I enjoy are Spike irritating Angel (without too much Angel bashing), Spike and Joyce friendship, Wes running Angel Investigations or his own business, Wes or Giles succeeding where the Council fails, and kittens. It could be part of your current storyline, if you'd like. Mood: funny and/or action. Must have a happy ending."

I can't say I managed to cover all the bases but I had a decent try.

For those of you unfamiliar with the 'verse: Buffy and Spike are together. Spike claimed Buffy some time ago and after a bit she got over her inhibitions and returned the favour. Various things happened differently, like Spike pointing out how badly faked the death of Connor's adopted father was, so that Angel never had his stay at the bottom of the ocean. Cordy got rescued before Jasmine's possession of her was complete. When the AI crowd were shunning Wes, Buffy asked him to come back to Sunnydale where he now has his own business, a sexy Mexican attorney with a half-demon daughter for his girlfriend and so on... For those familiar with the series, just assume that the FE/Caleb/bringers/Turok Han have all been dealt with and that instead of Spike and Wes heading north to Gilroy, they, Giles and Clem headed south to LA. It's Friday night and there's just over a week until the wedding... Set mostly post Not Fade Away, with just a couple of the earliest scenes falling pre The Girl in Question. (I know, I know, but just imagine that Angel's spy was unconscious for a few days and that Andrew has maybe seen Buffy and the Immortal snuggling on the couch a whole once but you know how he likes to exaggerate.)

Spike and Angel receive party invitations from Ilona at the Rome office of W & H. When they find out that Giles and Willow will also be in attendance, Spike decides it's time to settle some scores on Fred's behalf. A somewhat belated birthday fic for, Luba, site administrator at The Crypt.

Fourth "book" in the series that started with Spike's Will Be Done, and continued with True Colors and Ring of Fire. Like True Colors and Ring of Fire, it has been split into several sections to make life easier. Spike (soulless and unchipped) and Buffy are together in just about all senses of the word - engaged, claimed, but it's all still pretty new and in the middle of working out exactly what shape their relationship will take they have to help Dawn overcome the trauma of what happened in 'Ring of Fire'. Wes has come to Sunnydale for a 'trial period' but hasn't worked out whether he has a place there yet. The warning signs are beginning to show re Willow's magic/power issues. Anya and Xander did get married but Anya is losing patience with some of Xander's attitudes and things have also gone rather differently in LA. When it comes down to it, everyone is struggling in their own way to find happiness. Not really so much S7 yet as post an alternative S6.

Starting around the time of the episode 'Blood Ties' events take a slightly different turn when Spike isn't just knocked unconscious by Glory during the fight in the hospital.

This follows on from where my fic "Spike’s Will Be Done" left off and is pretty much a sequel to that story, so things will only really make sense if you read it first. For those of you who are wondering why the spelling of colour in the title doesn't agree with standard UK usage like the rest of the story, it's because it refers to the song by Cyndi Lauper, who of course spelled it the American way in her lyrics. Thanks go out to my two betas MadRog and t_geyer, without whom, no one other than me would be reading this. Before they came on board, this was just one chapter running to two hundred plus pages. They helped to sort out a workable structure and are currently giving me the necessary prompting to expand on certain plot lines raised within the story so far.

An alternative view as to what might have happened in Entropy if Buffy had given all Willow's spellcasting paraphernalia to Spike for safe-keeping instead of throwing it out. This time round, Spike has his heart set on the idea of casting the "Will Be Done" spell before he even reaches The Magic Box. What will the vampire wish for? And knowing the luck our favourite vampire seems to have, should we be surprised when things don't go quite as he planned?
